📢Schedule Update: July 21–25📢

Dr. Parks will be out of the office from July 21st through July 25th. During this time, Dr. Masters will be available for appointments on Monday, July 21, Wednesday, July 23, and Thursday, July 24.

We’ll also offer Technician Appointments on Tuesday (7/22) and Friday (7/25) for:
✔️ Booster vaccines
✔️ Lab work
✔️ Nail trims
✔️ Other non-doctor visits

We are happy to refill existing prescriptions throughout the week. Please use our Patient Portal to request refills or schedule an appointment:

What’s Hiding in this Paw?

This is the second grass awn case we’ve seen recently! Just two weeks prior, we removed one from another patient’s nose, and now this sweet pup came in with a swollen paw—and we found a grass awns embedded in the paw pad! 😣

What are grass awns?
Grass awns (also known as “foxtails”) are sharp, barbed seeds from certain grasses that can easily get lodged in your pet’s fur, ears, nose, eyes, or—like in this case—the paws. Once embedded, they can burrow deeper into tissue, causing:
🔹 Pain and inflammation
🔹 Infection or abscesses
🔹 Swelling or excessive licking
🔹 Even the need for surgery if left untreated

What can you do?
✔️ Check your pet’s paws, ears, and coat after outdoor time—especially if they’ve been in grassy fields or trails.
✔️ Keep long-haired pets groomed and trimmed, especially around the feet.
✔️ If your pet has a swollen paw, is licking one area obsessively, or seems uncomfortable, don’t wait—schedule an exam.

These little seeds may be small, but they can cause big problems. We’re so glad we could help both of these patients feel better. 💙

In honor of Memorial Day, Happy Paws Veterinary Center will be closed on Monday, May 26.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We are also grateful for the loyal service animals who stood beside them.

We will reopen with normal hours on Tuesday, May 27.

Dr. Parks will be out of the office from Monday, March 31st, through Friday, April 4th.

📅 Appointment Availability During this Time:
✅ Dr. Masters will be available for appointments on Monday, March 31st, and Wednesday, April 2nd.
❌ No appointments on April 1st, 3rd, and 4th.

📞 During this time, we will still be available for:
✔️ Current prescription refills
✔️ Phone support
