Get Ready for a Day of Unleashed Fun! Saturday, October 25th at ASU Mtn Home, Lucky Dawg Rescue is teaming up with All Creatures Vet Hospital to throw a Howl-o-ween Scary and Hairy Fest that's off the chain, celebrating 30 years of going wild for animal welfare!

This paw-ty will feature Pet Fair Adoptions with local shelters, a 2.5 and 5K Dawg Jog Fun Run that's a real treat, a Dawg Costume Contest to die for, a 5K Zombie Run to get your heart racing, Music by DJ Peace Productions to keep you grooving and live music by Now You Know Blues Band that'll make you howl!

Meet Oliver! He is thriving in his new home in Colorado! His backstory is he needed to be rehomed because his previous owner had too many dogs in the city limits and she was unable to keep him and another border collie safely contained. Thanks to the Mtn Home Police Dept Chief Eddie Griffin and Officer Tilley Animal Welfare we were able to work together to make an incredible new life for him. Even though his previous owner was torn up about rehoming him, she did what was right for him! Thanks Samantha, and Lucky Day Rescue in Colorado for being a big part in his happiness! Sometimes the good guys win! And in the case of Oliver he was double lucky with two rescues named Lucky Day and Lucky Dawg!

A very good rescue friend of mine just said: "If we euthanized every single dog sitting in a shelter right now, all the shelters would be full again by Friday."

And if that isn't the truest and saddest statement I have ever read, I don't know what is.

We are drowning.

No one is coming to save us. I am exhausted.

I can't even place a 40 pound mixed breed boy who is vetted, good with dogs, good with kids and is housebroken! How am I supposed to place the 75 pound black pitbull who doesn't like cats or male dogs (probably not alpha female dogs either) and tries to dominate/hump kids?

We can't! We can't do it.

And then we feel so guilty that we can't. Yet you know his previous owner isn't losing sleep over him. The shelter workers and rescuers are.

But dogs just keep coming, and we have to help the ones that will yield the best outcome for the dog, adopters and the public.

We bear all the responsibility for the dogs that we didn't break, but we try our best to put the pieces back together anyway. We don't always succeed. Please keep rescuers and shelter workers in your thoughts. We are all slowly breaking.
