Our pet of the week is Michael!
Michael is a big, muscular boy with a powerful build, giving him a real “tough guy” look. But spend even a minute with him and you'll quickly discover the truth – Michael is the sweetest, big teddy bear.
The moment you start petting him, he leans in and melts into you, soaking up every bit of affection he can get. His happiness is impossible to miss. When Michael greets people, his tail spins in big circles like a helicopter.
As sweet as he is today, Michael's story almost had a heartbreaking ending. He was discovered in the middle of a lake by a passing boater, desperately struggling to keep his head above water. We don't know how he ended up so far from shore or how long he had been fighting to survive, but we do know he was dangerously close to drowning. Thanks to one observant boater who stopped to help, Michael was given a second chance. We named him after Olympic swimming legend, Michael Phelps.
Michael survived the impossible. Now all he needs is someone to give him the happy ending he deserves – a family to love, a soft place to rest, and a home where he'll never have to fight to survive again.
