VVC Midlothian is temporarily shifting from Emergency (ER) services to offering consistent Urgent Care as we continue to grow our ER team. Thank you for your understanding and support during this transition.

Our state-of-the-art facility is uniquely equipped to manage more complex cases than a typical urgent care, ensuring pets receive the highest quality care with greater efficiency than a traditional ER visit. With an expert team and advanced resources, we’re here to deliver compassionate care when your pet needs it most.

If a patient seen at VVC Midlothian Urgent Care requires emergency-level care, seamless transfers to our 24/7 Emergency Service at VVC Short Pump are available — with no additional ER consult fees.

🚨 Emergencies We See & How We Help 🚨
At Virginia Veterinary Centers, our emergency team is here to provide immediate triage and lifesaving care when your pet needs it most.

Common Emergency Signs:
🚑 Breathing problems: short or shallow breaths, increased effort, gagging
🚑 Collapse or sudden weakness: when your pet can’t stand or loses consciousness
🚑 Seizures: especially first-time seizures, those lasting over 3 minutes, or recurring events
🚑 Abdominal distress: non-productive vomiting, bloating, or distension
🚑 Heavy bleeding or trauma, urinary issues, severe allergic reactions, signs of intense pain, or sudden behavioral changes

Did you know that 6 minutes is all it takes for a dog to overheat in a hot vehicle and face lifelong or fatal consequences? ☀️🥵 Pets can still overheat even when the windows are down, or if the car is parked in a shaded area.

Our best advice is to not leave your dog in the car - take them with you or leave them at home with plenty of water and shade. They will happily greet you when you return!
