In Medina County, a community known for its bee heritage, there once lived a dog whose heart worked a lot like a hive: steady and sweet. His nickname was "B."

Read about his story and the rebrand of adoptable dogs at Medina County's Dog Shelter.

Yesterday, our amazing volunteers Tricia, Lora, Holly, and Gary spent their Saturday afternoon taking two of our wonderful pups, Panda and Angel, on a spectacular fall hike to our beautiful neighbors, Medina County Park District Buckeye Woods!

This additional level of enrichment for our adoptable dogs not only helps reduce stress and burn off energy, but also provides better information on their personalities and behaviors for staff to share with potential adopters.

Panda and Angel did absolutely amazing! They took in all sorts of smells and sights with curiosity and calmness.
And handlers Tricia and Lora did sooo great keeping the dogs safe and Holly and Gary were the best extra set of eyes for Director Kiley.

This was our first hike together and we’re excited for more to come!

Interested in being part of our volunteer program or are curious about adopting? Reach out to us at 330-725-9121 or visit us at: https://www.medinaco.org/dog-shelter/ to complete an application!

p.s. our next volunteer orientation is scheduled for November 12 at 6PM at the County Administration Building, 144 North Broadway, Medina. Join us to learn more!

In great cooperation with the Police Chiefs' Association of Medina County, effective immediately, the Medina County Dog Shelter will no longer allow the outdoor drop off of dogs after hours.

Shelter staff met with the Association today providing them instructions on accessing our shelter and provided them a number of kennels available to place stray dogs found after hours.

The shelter team has placed locks on the outdoor kennels to prevent future placement of stray dogs in this area. To support our community members who've found a stray dog, we've also posted notice on the outdoor kennels the non-emergency number for the Medina City Police. Community members can contact that number to report the found dog and enlist law enforcement to place the dog indoors.

The shelter is grateful for the support of law enforcement on this new process to help us keep lost and stray dogs safe and comfortable until they can be reunited with their families. 🐾

Another BeeLoved thank you to Farmhouse 1834 for allowing us to spend time in their porch, sharing our shelter dogs with the community.
Thank you, too, for creating a beautiful fall basket with all raffle sales going to our shelter dogs. 💙
While we will miss your presence in Medina, we look forward to continuing our beautiful friendship.
