“You have the best job, you get to snuggle puppies!”
Behind the scenes, the reality is, it’s not just snuggling puppies. It’s working a “regular job” Monday-Friday, and spending Friday evening cleaning and disinfecting bowls and kennels between litters. It’s late nights and early mornings and never putting your phone down because you’re always available to your families. It’s constant communication with your vet, it’s endless 💩, it’s excitement and joy and heartbreak. And it’s all worth it when a happy family gets their puppy 💕

There is a heartbreaking reality in this job. Not every puppy is born healthy or strong. We pay close attention to every puppy, and can quickly identify one who is struggling. We can intervene and do everything possible to nurture this little life, but sometimes we see the baby continue to decline and have to make an incredibly difficult decision to euthanize- even at 5 days old. We have saved lives in “puppy NICU” but sometimes we can’t. Every puppy matters and every puppy gets a fighting chance, and losing one can feel like a devastating failure.
