Meet Thomas – 7 Months Old and Ready for His Forever Home! 🏡

Thomas is a sweet, goofy pup with a heart as big as his appetite for snacks (apples and whipped cream are favorites, but really… no treat is turned down). He’s a people-lover through and through, and while he enjoys the company of other dogs, he prefers a slow introduction to new canine friends. Bonus points: he’s great with cats, too!

This handsome boy is smart and eager to please. He already knows sit, stay, down, come, and even waits patiently when he wants something. With consistency, he’ll remain an excellent listener. Thomas is also learning his potty manners—sometimes he goes to the door when he really just wanted a walk—but he’s catching on quickly.

Don’t let his young age fool you—Thomas has the energy level of an old soul. Two rounds of fetch and he’s ready to retire to the couch, sighing like an 87-year-old man who’s worked all day. He doesn’t jump, rarely barks indoors, and walks well on a leash with just a little extra practice needed. He’s also crate trained and loves retreating there when the vacuum comes out.

Some of Thomas’s favorite activities include:
Visiting Petco to watch the fish and birds
Chasing bugs with determination
Riding in the car (he snoozes the whole time)
Solving food puzzles and enjoying lick mats for mental stimulation
Booping your hand with his nose for reassurance in new situations

He’s also not phased by fireworks, thunder, or even garbage trucks, though parked motorcycles make him a bit suspicious.

Thomas would thrive in almost any family setting. Because he has a touch of separation anxiety, he’ll do best with someone who works from home, can take him to doggy daycare, or simply wants a loyal companion always nearby. His foster mom says he’s the best dog she’s ever fostered—and we think you’ll agree once you meet him!

This guys name might be “ Boss “ but he is surely the best Sidekick someone could ever have.

He is reserved and quiet in the kennel / walks great on the leash / and has been friendly with everyone he’s met.

Boss is slightly anxious with all the chaos of the shelter environment - but he has a submissive and sweet demeanor that makes him easy to be around.

When George first came to AGSDR, we didn’t know much about his past… but we knew it wasn’t kind. He was found neglected and carrying the weight of a life that appeared to have never shown him love.

Last night, his foster mom sent us this photo. 🥹

With his favorite stuffy toy, Georgie curled up on a soft bed, sleeping peacefully. ❤️

Moments like these remind us why rescue work matters. Georgie can never tell us his past, but we are rewriting his future. 🐾

Indy 💛

Indy came to AGSDR in November 2024 after a rough start, and thanks to her foster family’s love and care, she’s made an incredible transformation. With her soft long coat, soulful eyes, and sweet spirit, this 5-year-old German Shepherd is now ready to find a home of her own. 🏡

She’s quiet, affectionate, and finds comfort being around other dogs. While she can be a little shy with new people, Indy builds strong bonds with those she trusts. Her ideal home? Peaceful, relaxed, and full of cozy spots for lounging and love.

🕊️In Loving Memory of Alfie🌈

Today, our rescue family said goodbye to a true legend. Alfie crossed the rainbow bridge — wrapped in love, surrounded by those who adored him, and held by his mom, Allison. 🐾

Alfie came to AGSDR in the summer of 2022. Early on, we thought he had cancer. Allison, his foster mom, braced for a hospice journey… but Alfie had other plans.

💪 He recovered.
💛 He thrived.
🐶 And somewhere along the way, Allison fell in love — and made him family.

If you’ve ever visited our holiday gift wrap, you probably met him. He was there greeting people, soaking up pets, and stealing hearts. He was our very best breed ambassador and the heart of that event.

🎁 Gift wrap wouldn’t have been the same without Alfie. Truly, it was a success because of him.

This year, Alfie was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma. But Allison gave him every chance — starting chemo immediately and for seven more months he had love, snuggles, and more memories were made.

Today, Allison and our rescue family helped him cross the bridge — gently, peacefully, and surrounded by love. 🌤️

To Alfie:
You were one of a kind.
Gentle, soulful, deeply loved.
We’ll carry your memory into every rescue mission.
