Based on this poor little guys injuries I’m assuming he got caught in a fan belt. He has a fractured hard palate, lacerated soft palate, fractured mandible, fractured orbit, degloving lacerations to a front paw, and several other small wounds. Yet he still would sit there purring and wanting scratches. So we’re going to try and fix what we can. Tonight I closed the soft palate laceration, stabilized the mandibular fracture, removed some teeth to try and close the communication between the fractured orbit and the mouth, and cut down one of his canines so he can close his mouth now. He’s still got a tough road ahead.

Summer is definitely here and eye injuries are in bloom. Treat these injuries as aggressively as possible. For some reason in Texas, relatively mild stuff can quickly become a disaster. Placed a lavage system, started anti fungal, antibacterial, atropine, serum, etc. More photos to come.

This happened January 22nd; tried to run/jump through a fence. Obviously doesn’t have a bright future as a jumper. Four months later of weekly bandage changes it’s almost there.

This is the barn management team! “July” makes sure that Kathy stays on top of everything and fed on time. “Sid Viscious” is in charge of pest control and general good behavior.
