Here is what bumblefoot looks like. It is often caused by a small cut that allows bacteria to infiltrate the foot and then causes infection. Ms Cloud her has been treated with antibiotics and regular Epsom salt soaks and protective bandages. Her case is more severe than we usually see, but she is also a very heavy breed duck which is often a contributing factor.

💔 In Loving Memory of Lily 💔

Our sweet blind hen Lily has passed away last week. Though she couldn’t see, she lived each day with trust, resilience, and grace. She was so deeply loved here at the sanctuary, and her gentle spirit will always be remembered.

RIP sweet girl!

🌟 $5 Friday: Make It Monthly 🌟

Today, we’re asking you to take your $5 Friday gift one step further—turn it into a $5 monthly donation.

Why? Because medical care for our rescued residents never stops. From Fern’s Cushing treatments, to Shawn’s arthritis meds, to Tio’s palliative care, the needs are constant—and so is the love we provide. 💚

For just $5 a month, you’ll join our community of monthly supporters who ensure every animal always has access to the care they need.

It’s a small gift that makes a big difference—and gives us the stability to plan ahead for vet visits, medications, and emergencies.

👉 Become a $5/month monthly donor today.

The Good Life Refuge

The Good Life Refuge believes that animals deserve respect, love and the best treatment possible. We are a farm animal sanctuary located in Longmont, CO providing refuge to abused, neglected and at risk animals. We are a 501C3 nonprofit.

2019 was a fast paced and turbulent year with equal amounts of joy and heart break. We rescued 126 animals, adopted 85 animals out (mostly chickens) and have now 50 animals residing at the sanctuary including 10 different species including chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, pigs, goats and alpacas. With your help we were able to take care of over $7,500 in feed and supply and over $10,000 in medical care. We reached a big milestone by receiving our 501C3 status. Additionally, we were covered twice in the news, hosted several workdays, open houses, a Farm Festival, Holiday Market as well as several youth and senior groups. This includes welcoming and educating over 300 visitors here at the sanctuary.

We could not have done this without. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!
