Meet adoptable rescue bunny Pearl! 🐰✨ Pearl is a sweet, playful, petite Californian bunny. She’s now one of our longest residents at Sunshine, even though she’s such a sweetheart.

Pearl just got back from a month of foster vacation 🏝️😎 because she was getting antsy spending so much time at the rescue. She doesn’t love her cage here but she really comes to life when she sits with our volunteers. She loves pets, treats, and exploring friendly humans.

If you’re interested in adopting Pearl or another wonderful bunny from Sunshine Rabbit Center, you can learn more at our website: www.sunshinerabbit.org/adopt

Thanks so much to Jody from Jody Springborn for coming to speak at Sunshine about bunny first aid this weekend 🙏❤️‍🩹🐰 We learned a lot from her talk and demo and we’re grateful for the lessons in how to keep our bunnies healthy!

If you don’t already, definitely follow Jody Springborn rabbit for tips about care for rabbits of all ages. And be sure to check out other educational talks at Sunshine this fall - including one on guinea pig care by Valerie from Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue (9/20) and another on rabbit dental health from Dr. Sari Kanfer from Exotic Animal Vet Center (11/8).

Thanks too to local popup Soya think you can bake and to our rescue bunny Serenity for being such a good sport in the demo 🧁😂 And of course to our Sunshine community for showing up and learning together!

New adoptable bunnies have arrived! 🤩🐰 If you stopped by Sunshine last week, you probably noticed a lot of empty enclosures. That’s because we had a bunch of adoptions and so many of our rescue bunnies found great homes 💖🏡

Each adoption leaves a spot open for another bunny in need. And they’re here! Come by Sunshine this weekend (Wednesday - Sunday, 11:00 - 6:00) to meet the new crew!

Here’s Serenity, one of our new faces and an all-around great bunny. She was nervous when she first arrived from the shelter but now she’s calm, confident, and loves spending gentle time with people ❤️🐰

Even if you can’t adopt, you can come hang out with bunnies like Serenity and help them become more social and adoptable. Book a session to “Veg with Bunnies” 🥬🥗 here: www.sunshinerabbit.org/visit

📣💉 Sign-ups for our next reduced cost vaccine clinic are open now! Join us Sunday, September 13, 1:00-4:00 pm with Dr. Autumn Schiano from Seacliff Animal Hospital🐾. $80 ($130 value) for the first shot & exam; $40 for the second shot. Register at: sunshinerabbit.org/events

Bunnies need the RHDV2 vaccine to help protect them against a fatal and contagious disease. If this is your rabbit’s first time getting vaccinated, they need 2 shots, given about a month apart. After that, bunnies need 1 annual booster.

🐰❤️‍🩹 Vaccinated bunnies have more fun! They can visit Sunshine for boarding, grooming, socials, and more. Our vax clinic fills up fast so grab your spot before they’re gone!

👩🏽‍💻Registration required for 1st shot + exam. If you attended in August and you’re returning for your second shot, see your email for details. Registered at: www.sunshinerabbit.org/events

Adopted and bonded! 🐰💖🐰 We’re so happy rescue bunny Ryan, who was adopted through our matchmaking and bonding program last week. Now he’s home with his new family and snuggling up to his bunny best friend, a sweet lop girl named Lola.

Swipe through the photos to see some of the special moments in Ryan’s journey - his bonding time at Sunshine, his glamor shots taken by our photographer, his spot at home with Lola, his visit to our bunny social (where he and Lola first met), and the exciting day his family took him home 🥳🏡

Ryan has had a long road to get here. He was originally part of a bonded pair separated when they arrived at a public shelter. He waited at the shelter for more than a year 😮 before our rescue partners brought him to Sunshine. He was briefly bonded to another boy but their friendship didn’t work out. Throughout it all, Ryan has been a calm, loving, trusting bun. He deserves the world 🌎❤️

If you’re interested in bringing your single bunny for matchmaking, you can learn more on our website: www.sunshinerabbit.org/bonding

Meet the sweetest little adoptable bunny - who is going to grow up to be not so little! It’s Tanner, one of the new faces at Sunshine. He’s still just a kid but he already adores pets. After he gets love, he goes binkying around in circles 😍🐰

Since Tanner is a rescue, we don’t know his full story, but we’re pretty sure he’s half Flemish giant. He has big ears, big back feet, and the same overall look as the silver giants that are becoming popular here in Southern California 🤔

We know all the adopters are going to fall in love with his heart-melting personality. But whoever adopts this boy has to be prepared for a whole lot of bunny 😮🐇

If you’re interested in adopting Tanner or another wonderful bunny from Sunshine Rabbit Center, you can learn more at our website: www.sunshinerabbit.org/adopt

Thinking of adopting from Sunshine Rabbit Center? ☀️🐰 You’ll need to know about our requirements for how you set up your new bunny’s space at home. We love our rescue bunnies and we want to make sure they’re safe, comfortable, and happy 🏡💖

Before you adopt a bunny, we’ll ask you to share a few photos of your bun’s “homebase” - a spot just for them where they feel safe. To meet our guidelines, your homebase should include:

🐾 Minimum 4’ x 4’ area, ideally surrounded or blocked off by a pen or fence (like an exercise pen) that is roughly 30” high. Pens should not be shorter than 24” high. Buns will leap on out!

🦶Soft flooring. Washable rugs and blankets work well. Most bunnies don’t like walking on hard surfaces like hardwood or linoleum. Hard surfaces can also wear down the fur on their sensitive feet.

📦 A “hide,” something like a tunnel or little house that a bunny can tuck themselves inside and feel safe. Even an upside down cardboard box with doors cut on the side can be a hide. Crafty!

🌾 Litterbox with hay. A medium or large box without a plastic or metal grate is best. Small boxes can lead to bathroom accidents and bunny nails can get caught in grates.

🥣 Heavy ceramic bowls for water and food. Bunnies drink from bowls, not bottles. They love to fling lightweight bowls - fun for buns, messy for humans.

🧸🚂 At least 1 or 2 kinds of toys or enrichment - something for your bunny to play with, chew, or dig in. Bunnies are smart and curious. If they don’t stay busy, they get themselves into trouble.

Those are the basics! To learn more about adopting from Sunshine and our requirements for home spaces, visit: sunshinerabbit.org/adopt

Thanks to recently adopted rescue bunny Rocky Road for being our model for our sample homebase photoshoot 🤩
