With Parvovirus, a delay of just 12 to 24 hours can mean the difference between a routine intervention and a life-threatening emergency. Because Parvo can live on local sidewalks and grass for up to a year, Long Beach pet owners need to know the exact signs.
The Timeline:
- Hours 1-12: Sudden lethargy, skipped meals, and low-grade fever. (The golden window for treatment).
- Hours 12-24: Severe, frequent vomiting and rapid dehydration.
- Hours 24-48: Watery, bloody stool and hypovolemic shock.
If your puppy skips two meals or seems uncharacteristically quiet, do not "wait and see". Call ahead so we can prepare an isolation space, and carry them into our clinic to protect other pets.
