A few of our artsy animals heard that the Town of Leesburg, Virginia recently installed a Free Little Art Gallery in Raflo Park thanks to the work of local Girl Scout Troop 2718. Of course they couldn’t wait to get in on the fun and recently completed a few nose-art pieces!

If you stop by the Free Little Art Gallery, be sure to keep an eye out for art by adoptable Kannon, Shallot and Dainty! And if you fall in love with the art, keep in mind you can always stop by the animal shelter and adopt the artist! We are open daily from 11-6pm for adoptions!

One of our volunteers took Kannon out for a nice, long walk! Here is what she wrote about their adventure:

"Kannon and I started our walk today with a LUCKY find -- not just TWO 4-leaf clovers, but also TWO (wait for it) FIVE leaf clovers.🍀 All this luck must mean something so we went out to advertise for Saturday's Empty the Shelters Adoption Event.

And THEN (because it just never ends with Kannon) we saw THREE fox kits (or cubs or pups, take your pick). And we only got a little wet."

We think all this good luck must mean something too! Perhaps this weekend will be Kannon's lucky weekend!

Interested in adopting? We are open daily from 11am-6pm and this Saturday, May 10 we're waiving adoption fees for all of the animals at the shelter for the Empty the Shelters adoption event! Stop by and adopt a new BFF! 🐶😺🐰

Hachiko went on an adventure walk with one of the walkers from Pawsitivity Pet Services! He had the best time! Here is what they had to say about this adoptableble dog:

“Hachiko was very excited to jump into the car! He dove into the car in front of the seats.😂 I had to show him that there were seats for him to lay on! He enjoyed laying down during the car ride. When we got to Red Rock Wilderness he was ready to explore. Hachiko really enjoyed just strolling through the woods and looking around. He would stop occasionally to take some sniffs then we would continue our adventure! He was very excited the whole time and was such a good listener. When it was time to get in the car he started to dive again so I redirected him to the seats and he listened and jumped up. He was very tired and ready to just relax. I had so much fun with Hachiko and he is such a sweet boy!”

We love this update on senior pup Lovely who was adopted last month!

"Hi, Lovely’s doing so well! We are really enjoying her. She’s housebroken, she doesn’t run off, she’s starting to eat better and she just wants to be around us! Loves to snuggle! A little separation anxiety, but we’re hopefully going to overcome that. It is improving. Thank you all!!!"

Adoptable Rusty got to go on a tail-wagging adventure today with Director Stively! The moment the car door swung open, Rusty's ears perked up. His former owner was a truck driver and had taken him along on every journey. Rusty hadn’t forgotten a thing. Without hesitation, he hopped in, ready to hit the road like old times!

First up - Tractor Supply! Rusty enjoyed all the smells of treats and toys stacked high. Tempting? Absolutely. But Rusty was on his best behavior, winning hearts (and so many pets) from the staff and shoppers instead. Back to the car for another drive around town before heading over to Bruster's for a sweet treat! The amazing staff whipped up a special pup-cup just for him—complete with crunchy dog-cookie sprinkles on top. Delicious!

Rusty had the best time on his adventure. He got to drive around town, meet new friends of all ages and check out some new places too! Rusty is ready to park his paws for good. He has lived with a cat before and enjoys playful dog friends. Is your home the destination he’s been searching for? Stop by the shelter and ask about Rusty, we are open daily from 11am-6pm.
