Attention Animal Lovers and Supporters:

We are having our Winter Orientation this week and are hoping to bring in some amazing help for the winter. We have places for everyone to help. All you need is willingness to come out and the love for all animals. We do take people of all ages, even littles with parent supervision for kiddos under 16. Even if you only have a morning or an evening once a week we welcome you.

There will be 2 Orientation days and 2 training days to come out. Ideally if you can make one of each, we will get you prepared to volunteer at Andrew's Heavenly Horse Rescue.

First is Orientation: September 1st 10am to noon. We will go over most of what you will need to know. The second option is September 5th 10am to 2pm. This second option will be more information and meet and great all the animals. We are offering one day during the week and then one on the weekend so that possibly one will work for you.

Second is Training: We can do a quick Orientation for anyone that couldn't make one of the other dates but these 2 dates will be more training and learning basic handling and Ground work training with our rescues. The dates for training will be September 8th 10am to noon or September 12th 10am to 2pm. You will go through an instructional stage and then a hands on if time allows.

Please sign up before hand so we make sure we are prepared for everyone. Either message us here or text Sandy at 970-389-9297. We hope to see everyone out at the rescue.b

Also if anyone is interested in being on our board for this next year, please reach out as we will be interviewing for new board members towards the end of September. TIA

We are collecting items for an online silent auction to raise funds for our hay this winter. If anyone would like to donate baskets, gift cards/certificates, services, etc. please reach out to us by Wednesday and we can pick them up. We will also be going around town on Monday to ask for support and donations.

We could really use our community's help and support. With the fire and prices so high we must act fast. Our evacuation pushed our hay supply to its end and delayed our incoming hay. We have gotten one big load of 45 bales and can still get 95ish bales from same supplier but each bale costs $226 and our rescues go through one bale every 2 to 3 days. Then we have to set up another supplier to get the rest.

It costs a lot to feed them all and keep them at a good weight going into winter. It takes planning, right timing, and amazing donors to make this all happen. If you aren't able to donate please share to anyone that would like to help.

So Many Updates From AHHR! 🐴❤️

We have SO many updates to share, and we honestly couldn’t do any of it without all of you!

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who follows us, shares our posts, donates, volunteers, adopts, encourages us, and simply cheers us on. The last few weeks have kept us extremely busy, and now we are shifting gears and getting everything ready for winter.

After the drought, the fire season, evacuations, and everything else this summer has thrown at us, I can honestly say… I’m ready for snow—or at least rain every day! 😂

So, in no particular order, here we go!

🐴 BOOM DAYS WEEKEND WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

We worked hard getting our five donkeys ready for the Annual B***o Race, and they ALL did amazing!

Our five teams finished between 25th and 48th place out of 67 teams running the short course.

I am so incredibly proud of every single one of them. Most importantly, they all finished! ❤️

We also learned a LOT about each donkey—who loves to run, who would rather take their time, and who may need a little more convincing next year! 😂

We are already looking forward to 2027!

Past racers will get first choice of their donkeys, but we are keeping a list in case anyone decides not to race with the same donkey next year.

👉 Want to race in 2027? Get your name on the list now and be ready to start practicing in June 2027!

🤠 AND THEN WE WON FIRST PLACE!

We also had an absolute blast performing our fun outlaw skit in the Boom Days Parade—and we are

SO excited to announce that we took 1st Place in the Organizations category! 🏆

Our jumping outlaw, Bay Bandit, stole the show, and we loved training our miniature gelding to jump over our AHHR sign!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make that happen and to everyone who came out and supported us!

🌾 BOOM DAYS ALSO HELPED US WITH HAY!

All weekend long, we sold our handcrafted items and put visitors in JAIL to help raise money toward our hay bill!

And we have to give a HUGE shoutout to Rob Coombs, who built our jail for us! It was such a fun addition to the weekend and helped us raise money while having a whole lot of laughs.

Because of everyone's support, we raised $800 toward hay during Boom Days weekend! 🎉

🏟️ OUR NEW ARENA IS COMING TOGETHER!

We also have some exciting news about our new arena!

Thanks to Leadville Rental Center and Ronald Booth, we are finally able to start bringing in the sand for our new arena and our second round pen! ❤️

This is something we have been working toward, and we are so excited to see it finally coming together.

And we have BIG plans for next summer!

Our new arena will allow us to host even more fundraising events and activities while creating another place where our supporters and the community can come together and enjoy the animals.

We are already working on ideas for next summer, and we can't wait to show you what we have planned!

A huge THANK YOU to Leadville Rental Center and Ronald Booth for helping make this possible. We truly appreciate your support of AHHR! 🐴❤️

👢 KID'S HAND MUCKING

To round out our weekend, we held our annual Kid's Hand Mucking event on Sunday.

We absolutely LOVE this event. Watching the kids participate, cheering them on, and seeing how excited they get is always one of our favorite parts of Boom Days.

We would also love to hear your feedback!

What did you like? What could we do differently? What would make the event even more fun?

We always want to make our events better, and your feedback helps us do that!

🏡 ADOPTIONS!

Now for some REALLY exciting news!

We have several adoptions in the works, and if everything goes as planned, we will have 5 more horses/donkeys heading to their forever homes! ❤️

That would bring us to a total of 7 adoptions this year!

We will share pictures and updates as soon as everything is officially finalized.

We still have a couple of horses available for adoption, and we will be introducing them soon.

Our goal going into winter is to have primarily our forever residents here at the rescue. That will allow us to focus on getting everyone settled and prepared for winter, while hopefully opening space to welcome new rescues in the spring.

🌾 HAY FUNDRAISING UPDATE

We are continuing to work hard on our hay fund!

Thanks to everyone who supported us during Boom Days, we were able to raise another $800.
We have also had to make some adjustments to hauling. The cost will not increase, but our loads will be smaller.

Each load is now $6,200.

For our next load, we currently need $1,800 more, with the $2,400 grant already included in what we have raised.

Every dollar truly helps us get that next load home. ❤️

And if you aren't able to donate right now, please share our posts! Sharing costs nothing and can put our fundraiser in front of someone who may be able to help.

🛍️ COMING NEXT: ONLINE SILENT AUCTION!

We are planning an online silent auction next month to help raise money toward our third load of hay!

If you would like to donate an item, basket, service, or gift card, please send us a message.

We will be picking up local donations this coming Monday. If you are in one of the surrounding counties and would like to donate, please let me know and I will do my best to arrange pickup before September 1st.

Every donation helps us turn items into hay for the animals!

❄️ WINTER ORIENTATION

Our final update is about our upcoming Winter Orientation!

We will be holding two orientation clinics:
📅 September 1st — Weekday Clinic
📅 September 5th — Weekend Clinic
⏰ 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

You only need to attend ONE of the two days.

During orientation, we will cover:
• What we do at AHHR and how we do it
• Winter procedures
• Rescue safety training
• Volunteer expectations
• Basic handling of our rescues
• And, if time allows, getting some hands-on experience starting with our miniature rescues

If you would like to attend, please message us with which date you would like to attend.

And remember—just because winter is coming doesn't mean the fun stops!

There is still plenty we can do with our rescues during the winter months, and we love having people come out, learn, help, and spend time with the animals.

❤️ From Boom Days, to b***o racing, to winning the parade, to building our new arena, to adoptions, to hay fundraising, and now preparing for winter—these last few weeks have been BUSY!

We couldn't do any of it without our incredible supporters.

Thank you for standing beside Andrew’s Heavenly Horse Rescue and helping us continue to give these animals the second chance they deserve.

🐴❤️ Here’s to getting through winter together and making 2027 even bigger and better!

We caught a lucky break. ❤️
Our first load of hay arrived just before the rain began. Thanks to some amazing volunteers, we got every bale unloaded, moved, and covered before the downpour started. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this possible!
Now our focus turns to our second load of hay.
We need to raise $7,600 to unlock a $2,400 grant from CHR, giving us the full $10,000 needed to purchase our second load of hay.
Although the animals displaced by the Willow Fire have safely returned home, the delays caused by the fire have put us behind at one of the worst possible time. Quality hay is becoming harder to find, and we can't afford to wait much longer.
Every donation brings us closer to unlocking that $2,400 grant. Your gift doesn't just help—it helps us receive even more funding for the hay our rescue animals depend on.
This hay will feed the horses, donkeys, goats, and other rescues who call Andrew's Heavenly Horse Rescue home. They rely on us every day, and with your help, we can continue to keep that promise.
If you can donate, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you can't donate today, please share this post. A simple share could connect us with someone who can help.
Together, we made the first load happen. Together, we can unlock this grant and bring home the second load.
❤️ Help us raise the remaining $7,600 and unlock the $2,400 CHR grant! Every dollar gets us one step closer.
Thank you for believing in Andrew's Heavenly Horse Rescue and for standing beside our animals through every challenge.

🚜🌾 Final Update for Our First Load of Hay 🌾🚜

We are still praying everything comes together for our first load of hay.

Now that we've finally been cleared to bring hay in after the Willow Fire, Mother Nature has thrown us another challenge with flood warnings across Colorado. As every horse owner knows, there's never a dull moment when you have equines!

The good news is that thanks to the incredible generosity of our followers and donors, we only need $1,275 to fully pay for this first load of hay!

The support we've received from our local community and friends from across the country has been nothing short of amazing. Every donation, every share, every kind word, and every prayer has helped keep our rescue going through one of the most difficult seasons we've ever faced.

We still have a long road ahead as we recover from the Willow Fire, but because of all of you, we know we aren't walking it alone.

If you're able to help us cross the finish line, any amount makes a difference. If you can't donate, please consider sharing this post so it can reach someone who can.

From all of us at Andrew's Heavenly Horse Rescue—thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you've done and continue to do. ❤️🐴

🌾 We're So Close! 🌾

Because of the incredible generosity of so many amazing people, we are almost at our $9,000 hay goal! ❤️

We now need just $1,720 more to have our hay delivered by Friday. Reaching this goal means we'll be able to continue feeding not only our rescue horses and donkeys, but also the displaced animals we're caring for during the wildfire emergency.

The support has been overwhelming. Donations have come from neighbors, friends, and complete strangers from across the country. Whether you gave $5, $50, or simply shared our fundraiser, you are making a real difference.

Thank you to everyone who has stood beside Andrew's Heavenly Horse Rescue during this difficult time. We're in the home stretch, and with your help, we know we can get there.

If you'd like to help us cross the finish line, every dollar brings us one step closer to getting this much-needed hay delivered by Friday. Hay donations are also greatly appreciated.

Thank you for believing in our rescues and helping us ensure that every animal has a full belly and the care they deserve. ❤️🐴

🌾 We're Almost There—Help Us Reach Our Goal by Friday! 🌾

Because of your incredible generosity, we are getting closer every day to our goal for our first load of hay. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our fundraiser, and supported our rescue.

We truly couldn't do this without you! ❤️

We have just $1,500 left to raise, and our deadline is this Friday.

As the wildfire situation improves, the displaced animals we've been caring for will soon be able to return home. We are so thankful we were able to help them during their time of need.

Now our focus is on making sure our own rescue horses, donkeys, and goats have the hay they'll need. This first load is essential to keeping them healthy and fed.

If you've been thinking about donating, now is the time. Every gift—big or small—brings us closer to having the hay delivered on time. If you can't donate, sharing this post can make all the difference.

❤️ Only $1,500 to go. Let's reach our goal by Friday and keep our rescues fed!

What a wonderful couple of days! ❤️🐴

The last two days have been a huge success! We want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to every single donor who helped make our farrier visit possible. We truly couldn't provide this level of care without your generosity and support.

This visit was extra special because several of our volunteers had the opportunity to learn more about proper hoof trimming, giving them valuable hands-on experience that will help our rescue animals in the future. We are so proud of how everyone did!

One of our biggest victories was with Skittles! 🎉 For the first time, she allowed us to trim her feet without sedation. That is a huge milestone and shows just how much trust she has gained through patience, kindness, and consistent care.

Every donation you make goes directly toward improving the lives of these amazing animals. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us give them the care they deserve.
