Treetops Kitty Cafe is run by the non-profit Treetops Animal Rescue. We are the first and only Cat Cafe in Chester County currently! Cat Cafes are open environments for rescue cats to mingle with visitors. We do not operate as a food service, but we offer self-serve hot beverages to sip on while you mingle with our cats. Entry fees are listed on our website along with information about how to adopt a cat from us!
Our friends over at Kitchen Kettle Village have outdone themselves this year in creating a "cat lady" scarecrow for their annual scarecrow fundraiser! 😹

Meet Bagheera! 🐈⬛
A true house panther, Bagheera clocks in at 17 lbs! He's a huge, loveable boy with an equally large personality. He is a great fit for a cat-savvy owner who wants to give him the attention he craves. Bagheera is a big baby who loves to be held. He will jump on your shoulders constantly. He's pushy and refuses to hear the word "no" when he's climbing all over you while you work or eat. 🤣 He's doing fine with the other cats, but I can tell he's going to be a handful and will be cat-selective with his pals. He has not been tested with dogs yet.
Bagheera is going to be a popular guy here, but in true Treetops fashion, we will be selecting an experienced home for him that meets his big needs. Living with a panther like Bagheera is not for everyone! He needs a large home and lots of places to climb high like the jungle cat he is. We love big personalities and Bagheera is no exception. Come hang with him before he gets scooped up!

Archer came to us from a shelter in Virginia, where his owners had surrendered him after less than a month of living with them. He was described as "not a good fit for kids" because he bit a child in his home while they were "jumping next to him". Well, I'd sure bite someone if they were jumping near me and I didn't know them, not sure about you. 🤣 In a shelter, finding homes for pets with a bite record is very hard. That's where we come in.
We have a graceful approach to "bite record cats": give them a freakin' chance. Domestic cats are tiny wild animals living in our homes and it's completely understandable for an animal to lash out physically with humans they do not know or trust. One biting incident does not make a cat dangerous, nor do regular occurrences of biting. It's about how YOU handle it as the only being in the situation who can do something about it. Let's also remember just how much time it takes for a cat to decompress in a home and if your child is constantly bouncing around near them, that time is going to drag on and on. We must create the ideal situations for our newly adopted pets to flourish. I have met over 800 cats in my time with Treetops and only 2 of them have ever been considered not safe for the Cafe. I like those odds.
Treetops takes into account the risk of bringing a cat into the Cafe with a bite record, but we are so very careful to assess the cat properly before allowing them to interact with the public. Archer never showed any signs of aggression with us during his stay, even when he was being held down to clean his eye boogers. He happily played with, was petted by, and spent time with children younger than the one in his last home. Why? Because we know cats. We ask children to be calm in our space. We ask adults to monitor their families during their visit. We tell the guests which cats prefer to not be touched and we guide interactions so everyone has the best experience possible. We don't lie to people about the cats and that might be uncomfortable for some, but it ensures cats like Archer will always have a home that understands them.
Under our care, Archer never showed signs of aggression and blossomed into a happy, playful, amazing cat who did not have to work hard to get adopted!

Houston is off to his forever home! 🥳 We sure will miss his loud crying for wet food, tripping over him as he flops down on our feet mid-walk, and his floofy cuddle sessions!

SURPRISE!!! Nebula AND Stormy are off to their new home together in Arizona!
Their new parents are longtime supporters of the Cafe who recently moved across the country. They came back recently and asked if we could make an adoption happen for Nebula and another kitty, at the time TBD! They fell for Stormy and we made it happen! We have never sent kitties on a plane before, but we wanted Nebula to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity no matter what. Congratulations, sweet babies!

Lan is popping by to say hi! She has been with us for 547 days. Lan’s ideal home has cat experience, doesn’t mind when she wants her own space, and has another friendly kitty for her to pal around with. When Lan first arrived at Treetops, she was semi-feral and we’ve worked with her to the point where she openly lets people pet her and she engages in interaction regularly. She still has so much trust and love to give to someone special. Could that person be you?
Lan does well with dogs, other cats, and can live around older kids (12+), but would prefer an adult-only home. She loves to climb and spends most of her days perched above the fray, watching her kingdom. I’ve been working with Lan for over a year and she holds a very special place in my heart. She deserves the world!

Stormy is 4 years old, spayed, and ready for her forever home! She’s great with the other cats and is coming out of her shell slowly with us. She’s so sweet and chatty!
Today we received an anonymous donation of $25,000.
$25,000. I can’t even begin to process the emotional weight of receiving a gift this large. It is the single largest donation that has ever come in, second to a $20,000 donation from a very dear donor of ours earlier last month. The outpouring of love for what we do has been nothing less than overwhelming.
To the donor, thank you. Thank you for giving us hope. Thank you for supporting cats like Derby and Moon, bonded buddies who aren’t super social with people. If not for Treetops, these two would be part of a feral colony or worse. Instead, they get to live their little lives with us until someone decides to adopt them. Derby was a kitten when she was taken in by animal control. She had ringworm at the time, so she missed a huge portion of her socialization window when she was in treatment. Some might see Derby and think she’s feral or unfriendly, but in reality she just needs trust and patience. Moon, her bonded buddy, was rescued from a hoarding home with over 130 cats all living inside. Moon was stripped of the privilege to socialize with humans in that situation. He has come such a long way with us and his journey is barely beginning. Derby and Moon were not bonded when we accepted them into our rescue, but they quickly became a dynamic duo, with Derby helping Moon come out of his shell. We can pet both of them now and while they’re a far cry from a lap cat, they’ll make wonderful pets for the right family.
Treetops is dedicated to housing and homing cats like Derby and Moon. This donation is huge for us. We are so humbled. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Another update on our Franny girl!
I love having Franny as a foster, but it's about time she finds a forever home! I'd love it if she did not have to come back to the Cafe and could land directly into a loving home. Franny is an angel who deserves the home of her dreams, so let me tell you a little bit about her demands...
1. Franny wants a wet food diet with kibble on top (as seen in the pictures, she is a messy eater and gets food all over her sweet little face!)
2. Franny would prefer to live with chill animals because her balance is a bit off and she doesn't want to get knocked over by a dog. She seems totally fine with dogs being around, though!
3. Franny would prefer carpet to hardwood floors.
4. Since she is 17, Franny would prefer an experienced pet owner who has an outstanding history with their vet. She is in great health for her age, but things can happen and she just wants to know she will receive the best care.
5. Franny asks that her adopter spend a lot of time with her, even if it means just sitting in the same space. She would be a wonderful work-from-home companion or a senior companion.
Fran is a silly goose who loves to chit-chat when she wants food or attention. Her meow is so soft and sweet. She loves to be brushed and talked to, and she's one of those cats that likes to smell your breath. 😂 She's a tad off-balance, but she is very capable and independent. She does not struggle with litter box habits and is not destructive. She's just a sweet older gal looking for love. If Franny sounds like a good fit for you or someone else, please consider adopting her! And the best part is that if you adopt her before she comes back to the Cafe, you won't be required to pay a reservation fee. I'm housing Franny in West Grove, PA, and will accept approved adopters for visits in my home.

A little update on our Franny girl! Franny went to the vet last week and we had her labs done. They came back indicating a liver infection, so we started her on antibiotics and a few other meds to help clear that up. She's in foster care at my house and is thriving. She loves her morning and evening feedings. I figured out that she prefers dry food to wet, but to keep her hydrated, I've been mixing her dry food and wet food together with extra water. She LOVES it. Like completely obsessed. She is taking her meds like a champ and all I have to do is put them in a pill pocket and serve with some treats. She gobbles them right up! Franny will be finished with her meds next week and then we will take her in again for labs to make sure the infection cleared. Her labs looked pretty good otherwise for a cat her age (17!) and she should be ready to go home with someone lucky as soon as possible. Franny is a very special cat. She has such a sweet disposition and a silly attitude about life. Her balance is off quite a bit and we're not quite sure if it's cerebellar hypoplasia or just arthritis and old age. It doesn't affect her getting around! She does well on carpets, so she will need a home with carpet instead of hard floors for accessibility (or intentional walking paths created for her if you do have hard floors!). Her favorite activity second to eating is being brushed with the grooming mitt. Most people cast senior pets aside, but I embrace them. They're still here living their lives and are no less deserving than any other cat! If you choose to adopt Franny, you won't be sorry. She will give you the best she has to offer until she is ready to move on. 🌈 Until that day, soak up every ounce of Franny lovin' that you can. Adopt or foster Franny!
Lan has been with us for over a year and she is finally ready for a family of her own. We love her so much, but it's time for her to find a forever home. Lan needs to be in a house with other cats, she can live with dogs, and can live with older kids if the expectation is there that she is skittish and needs time. Lan could take another year to adjust to a home, so please only inquire if you're 1000% serious about adopting her and giving her all the time in the world. We raised $1,651 yesterday for Cheddar ❤️😭 This surpassed our goal by a mile and I’m going to make sure Cheddar is fully taken care of before allocating funds to a reserve for future cardiac cats! Thank you to everyone who is sending us the lickable treat pouches! We will have plenty for meds and nail trims! Here’s a little peak at how we use them for trimming nails! Doesn’t always work with every cat, but for cats that like to nip at your fingers while you trim, it is magic!✨

Why do we use cages (AKA our kitty condos)? Our condos are a safe, secure, and calm place for kitties who need daily medications, are recovering from surgery or other minor procedures, or just need a spot to themselves while they adjust. We have moved our condos around a bit and they now reside behind the front desk so they can see people, but not be in direct contact with our guests in the case of contagious illness. Since we are a rescue as well as the cat cafe, we have to treat minor illnesses all the time! This is how we do it without foster homes. 🥰
Meet Hayley! Hayley is one of our day-hiders and she spends most of her day sleeping in the back room, but in the mornings we get to interact with her at her chattiest time of the day! Where did Hayley come from? Well, Hayley was cowering in a cage at the local shelter when I first met her. Her kennel card warned that she would dart if the door was opened, so I opened it slowly and approached her with a soft voice. She smelled my hand and allowed me to start petting the side of her face. She then began to knead the blanket she was standing on. She smelled the top of my head and continued to enjoy being pet. I knew she wouldn't stand much of a chance in that cage because she was so terrified. It took Hayley a few days to start exploring the lounge area after arriving at the Cafe, but now she comes out at night and early in the morning before she heads to a nap spot near the back room. Hayley is gentle, affectionate, and eager to please. She would love a patient family to call her own. She would do well with kids who understand her need for alone time. Her interactions with our other cats have been wonderful and she gives them head bumps whenever possible. She is skittish upon approach, so dogs may frighten her at first. I'm hoping someone out there is looking for the opportunity to give a shy cat a quiet home because Hayley is a gem! Approximately 5 years young and fully vetted + chipped

Children over 5 are welcome in the Cafe. However, we require that children be accompanied by an adult the entire time they are visiting. Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to pick up or handle the cats (gentle petting and playing with toys is encouraged!).
Anyone found to be mishandling, mistreating, or harming the cats in any way will be asked to leave without a refund.
