Juneau Animal Rescue Promoting animal welfare by educating, protecting & sheltering stray, abandoned, & surrendered pets.

Our animal shelter began as a small shed under the bridge over Gastineau Channel. While we will always be proud of those humble beginnings, our new name and logo more accurately convey the community spirit of the organization that has served Juneau’s animal population since 1963. In January 2019 we changed our name to Juneau Animal Rescue, hoping to strengthen awareness of our organization and expand our public outreach. We are continually grateful for the generous support of the community and look forward to the next 50 plus years of service as Juneau Animal Rescue.

Exciting National Cat Day News! 🐱🧡

It's officially National Cat Day, and a lot of JAR's cats still haven't found homes. To help our shelter's current residents and prepare for future ones, we need your help finding good homes for these guys! 🙌

For the next two weeks, all adult cat adoption fees will be waived by 50%
Don't rush, you've got two weeks to think about it! All cats that are fostered out during this time will be eligible for the waiver. 💛

All of our adult cats are:
✅Spayed/Neutered
✅Microchipped
✅Vaccinated
✅Treated for Fleas/Worms

We have so many amazing cats in desperate need of homes! Visitation is from 1 PM to 5 PM, Monday-Saturday! 🐾

Please make sure that all current household pets are up to date on rabies and licensing! 🐶🐱

Will someone come and rescue Roman?🐱💕

Roman is about 3 years old, and he's been a pleasure to work with!🫶

When he came in, we assumed he was feral. He wanted nothing to do with us, but something about him made us want to try and help him. Roman was neutered, and after close observation, time, and patience, he turned around! ❤️‍🩹

Roman is a big foodie and loves to be the center of attention. He's starting to learn that food isn't scarce anymore, and he doesn't need to wolf down the entire communal room's dinner. When our morning staff cleans, he's always all over them, demanding attention. We love him so much, but our hearts are starting to break for him!🥲

Roman is looking for a relaxed home where he can preferably be the only cat at home. He's been doing okay in our communal room, but the stress of adding more cats seems to upset and trigger Roman. He could probably learn to live with another cat down the road, or if they were introduced very slowly, but we understand if Roman decides he wants to be the only cat. ❤

Visitation starts at 1 PM today! Please stop by and say hi! 🙌
