Remember Rose from a few months ago? She had an aural hematoma (her ear flap had a large “blood blister”) and was not a candidate for our typical approach of medical management.
We ended up using a system called PinnaMend - two flat pieces that went on either side of her ear flap and were connected through the ear flap with something resembling buttons. She wore it (& a very stylish No Flap Ear Wrap) for a few weeks to allow her ear to heal properly. We also started her on Cytopoint to help combat her allergies, which likely helped cause the hematoma in the first place.
She came by for a visit today and we were all excited with how great her ear looks! The hair has grown back, and other than being *slightly* thicker than her other ear (due to scar tissue), you almost can’t tell she ever had a hematoma!
