It's $2 Tuesday, and today we're asking for donations for Big Spike to cover his boarding costs until we can get him into a foster home.
This boy was so happy to leave the shelter - the door opened, and he went straight to the car and jumped right in.
Spike was a shelter favorite because of his kind, gentle nature, but unfortunately, as an 80-pound, 6-year-old, giant-headed Bully breed, his chances of making it out of the crowded shelter at the hardest time of year for shelter dogs were slim.
One of our amazing volunteers spent a lot of time with this guy at the shelter and helped us find a boarding location with availability to keep him for us for the holidays. We were thankful to find a space because boarding is hard to find right now.
Rescuing dogs these days is more challenging than ever - finding quality people willing to foster is harder than finding a needle in a haystack. Raising money to keep dogs in paid boarding is extremely difficult, but seems to be the only way to save lives.
Will you please donate a few dollars today to help us cover Spike's influenza vaccine, food, and boarding for one month? That cost is approximately $800, and raising this amount today would be a huge help to BarkVille Dog Rescue and, of course, Spike.
If you are interested in fostering Spike, know that he is middle-aged, low-key, dog-friendly, well-behaved, and a very loving boy. Applications can be completed at www.barkvilledogrescue.org.
If you cannot foster, please consider making a donation to help us continue trying to save lives.
Donations can be made on our website at www.barkvilledogrescue.org or
