PAAD: Promoting Animal ADoptions We are a group of volunteers working to Promote Animal ADoptions for the SPCA of Tompkins County (Ithaca, NY)

We are a group of volunteers working to Promote Animal ADoptions (PAAD) for the SPCA of Tompkins County (NY). The animals we feature on this page need a little extra boost for one reason or another. Some may have very specific requests for their new homes. Some have been waiting a long time to meet the right people. Some may have arrived at the TC SPCA with health problems, or with puppies or kitt

ens in tow, and needed extra time and care to be ready to join a family. Our goal is to show off these amazing animals with photos, videos, and information directly from the volunteers who hang out with them every week. Be sure to check out the SPCA's website for information about adopting a new pet and to see all the animals available for adoption: www.spcaonline.com/adopting-pets

is remembering the Ithaca Festival parade! The dogs of the SPCA of Tompkins County were represented by larger than life replicas of Kirby, Whiskey, and Oozo. The actual dogs couldn't make it. They already had plans to spend some time with their volunteer friends, going for a walk. Also, the Ithaca Festival Parade can be a lot. It's a special dog who's ok to wear a tutu or disco outfit and walk down Cayuga St past a big crowd of people - and some other dogs - while a brass band follows them! We appreciate the dogs of staff and volunteers who did join us!

If you'd like to meet Kirby, Whiskey, Oozo, or any of the other great dogs who are looking for their people, stop by the SPCA Adoption Center during open hours: Wednesday-Sunday, noon-4:30 pm; or during extended hours on Thursdays: noon-6:30 pm.

Did you spy some of the adoptable pets from the SPCA of Tompkins County at the Ithaca Festival parade? Cats Chloe, Percy and Cinder were represented. The actual cats chose to stay at the shelter where it's cozy, familiar, and quieter. Also they needed to be at the shelter ready to interview prospective families/people!

If you'd like to meet any of these sweet cats (or the other great cats looking for homes) in person, stop by the SPCA Adoption Center during open hours: Wednesday-Sunday, noon-4:30 pm, or Thursdays noon-6:30 pm.

Neither rain nor sleet nor cold...will stop these boys from having fun! It's another and while the weather is downright miserable, these boys don't seem to mind it one bit πŸ˜ƒ.

Mackeral (4 years old, brindle) and Scotch (1 year old, black n white) may look a tad different but are a lot alike. Both enjoy play time, long walks, cuddle sessions , and treats. Lots n lots of treats πŸ˜‰.

Both dogs are available for adoption and you are welcome to stop by the shelter and meet them during our open hours SPCA of Tompkins County

A happy and 🌞 from our resident goof-in-chief Bo. This 2 year old boy is the definition of happy-go-lucky and always has a smile for his friends - human or canine. Here you see him hanging out with his bff Whiskey (also available for adoption!) and simply loving life.

Feel free to stop by the shelter to meet him or any of his friends and liven up your summer πŸ˜‰. SPCA of Tompkins County

How about a nice, relaxing with the beautiful Missy? This sweet girl came to the SPCA of Tompkins County about a month ago. She was in the Adoption Center for a brief while but that was a little too much for her, so she went to a foster home for a few weeks to relax and gain some confidence. Missy is back at the Adoption Center now and ready to find a home of her own!

After reading her bio on the SPCA website, we now understand that Missy is a Zen master! Check out these descriptions of her:
🩷 Missy is the kind of cat who quietly makes your home feel more peaceful and comforting.

🩷 She is incredibly gentle and quiet-most of the time, you'll hardly hear a sound from her, aside from an occasional soft, adorable meow when she truly needs you.

🩷 Missy truly enjoys being around her person. When you're working or relaxing, she'll stay nearby, quietly watching you with soft curiosity.

🩷 When she wants affection, she gently leans in, brushing you with her head or tail. She absolutely loves chin and head scratches, as well as being brushed

🩷 Occasionally, she'll sit by the window and quietly observe the outside world, but she always remains composed and relaxed.

🩷 Missy has a steady, gentle temperament, making her a wonderful fit for a peaceful home. She brings a quiet sense of comfort-you never feel alone with her around."

If you need this kind of peaceful energy in your life, stop by the adoption center during open hours Wednesday-Sunday 12-4:30 (Thursday 12-6:30), to meet Missy.

Happy Mothers' Day to everyone celebrating today! Zeke has a very important question to ask...
Will you be his dog mom?

Or dog dad. He won't limit his affection to just a mom! Zeke is on the lookout for someone who loves rambling walks (with plenty of pauses for a good sniff or three) and can appreciate a very good boy who knows how to β€˜sit' for a treat.

If you'd like to meet this handsome hunk and get to know him a little better, stop by the SPCA of Tompkins County Adoption Center during our open hours Wednesday-Sunday 12-4:30 (Thursday 12-6:30).

We're wishing an extra special and to Pretzel! This dilute tortie fuzzball came to the SPCA of Tompkins County with her mostly grown up kittens. Pretzel must have been a good mama because her babies are now big, strong teenage kittens (aka cattens)!

Pretzel is a friendly kitty with lots to say. Maybe she wants to brag about her babies. Or maybe she's saying "Thanks for the spay!" so she doesn't have to worry about raising any more kittens!

Pretzel and her picnic family (the cattens are Nacho, Relish, and Bratwurst - Potato Salad has already been adopted) are all ready to find homes of their own! You can stop by the SPCA Adoption Center to meet them. Open hours are Wednesday-Sunday, noon-4:30, with extended hours on Thursdays from noon-6:30pm.

Sometimes a perfect is about enjoying a good meal and hanging with friends. And no one does this better than this fella! Meet Captain Patch Sparrow, a handsome 1-year old who loves meandering walks, hanging with friends, and most importantly, getting a yummy meal delivered to him in his room. Patch is a big guy who will convince you that your lap is just the right size for his petite body πŸ˜‰.

Have some time today? Stop by the shelter and meet him! You can find him and his friends at SPCA of Tompkins County.
