Soleil (So-Lay) was found in the woods October 2011, emaciated and weak (see picture #2). She was barely able to use her back right leg and was unable to use her back left leg at all. She needed a sling to walk the first few months. She also had heartworms. Soleil was sweet and trusting when she first came to CAP, but some situations, possibly related to being in the woods, caused her to become fearful of strangers. Soleil is learning to trust people again with help from a trainer and she is affectionate with the people she trusts. She has been treated for the heartworms and is walking on both back legs now though the left one is still weak, she limps, and she drags it sometimes. It's unknown how much better the leg will get, but she is still improving as time goes by (swimming would be helpful). She is doing okay with the other dogs in her foster home. She wants to play, but does have trouble keeping up, and she tires easily. Definitely no cats! In a recent meet and greet, she was good with the children. Soleil needs a home where she will get the attention and consistent exercise she needs. If you'd like to give this sweet girl the life she deserves after all she's been through email her foster at [email protected]. Verifiable vet history with this breed is required.
