It's $5 Friday! This week, each dollar will go to protect and care for these 5 kittens and their mother, who were left to die in an apartment. This is just one of the many situations we are dealing with currently. Please consider donating via Venmo or PayPal to Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue.

Come visit some of our foster kitties at Pet Supplies Plus Pelham (PSP) on Sunday, 3/29/25 from 1-4 (PLEASE NOTE - NO Saturday set up this weekend). Do not forget about visiting Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue's (KKHR) Haven House and Kitty Kabin both open Friday and Saturday from 1-5 and Sunday from 1-3. The Kitty Kabin is located at the rear of the Haven house. Click on each photo in this post to read a few details about each of these kitties visiting either Pet Supplies Plus or the Kitty Kabin. All KKHR adoptable cats are listed on the main website under the Adoptable Cats pull-down menu https://kittykathavenrescue.org/adoptable-cats/ and you can see even more details about personalities there. Please note that KKHR does not do same-day adoptions without a previously approved application. But an application is NOT required to come out and meet some kitties while you are deciding about adopting. Visit our website https://kittykathavenrescue.org/adoption to complete a no-obligation application. Also, see https://kittykathavenrescue.org/important-faqs-about-adoption/ for more important FAQs about adopting. The awesome cat cafe, Gatos and Beans, also has adoptable KKHR cats so check out their website https://gatosandbeans.com/ for info on their hours!

UPDATE -The abandoned kitties went to the vet today and got a clean bill of health!

MULTIPLE FOSTER NEEDS - If you have ever thought about fostering but not made the leap - now is the time to do so! And please considering fostering a teenager or an adult. The pull to foster the little kittens is understandable but it so much harder for us to help the older kitties if we don't have fosters willing to take. Click on each picture to get an idea of that particular foster need. Submit a foster app from our website www.kittykathavenrescue.org/foster be sure to read the FAQs to find out more info!

At Kitty Kat Haven, we work tirelessly to rescue, care for, and find loving homes for cats and kittens who have been abandoned, neglected, and abused.
Lately, we have seen an overwhelming number of pregnant or nursing mama cats coming into our care ( it’s that time of year) each bringing at least five kittens with them. We have also witnessed heartbreaking situations where entire groups of cats—sometimes six or seven at a time—are left behind hungry when people move and never look back.
Providing proper nutrition is one of the most essential parts of our rescue efforts, and right now, we need your help. We are in urgent need of the following:
*any flavor Fancy Feast Pate
*any flavor Friskies Pate
*we use chicken or turkey pate meant for adult cats for kittens, which we’ve found to be gentle on our kittens’ stomachs.
*We do use Purina One Healthy Kitten dry for kittens.
*Purina One chicken Tender Selects Blend dry for adults
Your donations of these foods allow us to keep our doors open and continue saving lives.
Every act of generosity gives these innocent kitties a chance at a brighter future. Without your support, we simply cannot do it alone.
If you can help, donations can be sent to 3432 Old Columbiana Road Hoover, Al. 35226.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of our mission. Together, we can give these cats and kittens the love and care they deserve.

Bow is officially pre-adopted!! Pre-adoption happens when someone connects with a kitten before they’re officially on the market! Our kitties must be 8 weeks and 2 pounds before they can be adopted, but we do allow the itty bitties to be spoken for early, then move out to their adoptive home as soon as they’re ready ❤️

Some very good points here. We encourage everyone to do what they can to educate themselves and be a part of the solution. Everything we do should be with a cats well-being in mind .

As we get deeper into kitten season I’d like to post some reminders for you all, especially pertaining to feral cats.

• No rescue wants to trap a feral cat, allow her to give birth, and keep her contained for 8-12 weeks. This may sound harsh, but look at it from the feral cat’s perspective. You are afraid of humans and run from them your whole life. All of a sudden you are trapped in a cage or small room with your precious newborns while these humans come and go. This would leave you unable to relax and in a constant state of fight or flight. And in extreme circumstances the feral mom may stop caring for her kittens because she is SO stressed out. Unfortunately, we have done this before. It’s coming from personal experience. I’d give anything to go back and make a different more humane choice.

• You found kittens outside and can’t decide if should move them. Most of the time, the answer is no. There are several age charts floating around that show you what kittens look like as they grow. If you find healthy, quiet kittens who are still nursing step back and wait. Mama will likely be near by and will come back for them. We also like to use cameras (WiFi or trail cams) to monitor the kittens. Do not intervene or pick them up unless they are in immediate danger or have been abandoned. Give mom space and a several hours before you call it.

•Our team stands firm on our choice to spay pregnant feral cats. Did you know that 70-80% of kittens born outside die before the reach a year old? And in that time they can have litters of their own. Cats don’t mourn their kittens before they are born. That is a human emotion we put on these animals and it isn’t ethical or fair. So, please, for the sake of the cat, put your own feelings aside and put them first. Spaying is the only way to prevent more needless suffering.

I’ll have other points as the season progresses, but these are the ones I wanted to address as of now. You can have different opinions, but these points are all based on experience and understanding of feral cats we have accumulated over the last decade of doing rescue work.
