Feels good to be home!

We’ve been in discussions for months with the humane society about how to best help Tilly get adopted. With adoptions down nationwide and her being dog selective, it has been a challenge. Oh, and we found out she’s heart worm positive despite testing negative in January.

We’ve decided to adopt Matilda for now as she undergoes heartworm treatment. During that time we’ll continue to work with her on her behavior and make her an awesome candidate for rehoming. We love her dearly and would love to keep her forever, but we want to try and help as many dogs as we can, and that means leaving a space open on our couch for the next foster.

We had an amazing playdate this weekend with our former foster, Gina 😉, and her new sister, Birdie. Matilda did so good jumping in and being a part of the pack. Lots of good walking together, sharing of water, and Birdie became her little shadow. It was awesome to see Matilda letting Birdie follow her around the park and even give her kisses.

Matilda went to Sips for Strays this weekend , which required a nap when we got home after meeting so many people in the wind and rain. She even was gentle enough to give a few babies some kisses! She still needs a forever home with a strong and patient family, but I promise, the work is worth her big smile 😀

What a rockstar weekend for Matilda! She met a new dog friend at our house and even participated in GBHS Young Professionals Board‘s hike at Red Mountain Park. Matilda has struggled with her boundaries and meeting other dogs, but she shined this weekend! She was scared and vocal about it at first but quickly fell into step as part of the pact and did wonderful sniffs, passes, and settles. We are so proud of all her hard work! ✨

How can you not love this girl?! Matilda (aka Tilly) is such a silly, spunky, love bug. Since she came in as a stray we don’t 100% know her past but we believe she was put in positions where she was scared and had to fend for herself. She is still trying to learn how to feel safe around other dogs but is so willing to learn given the time and love it takes.

If you or anyone you know is looking for a great dog who needs some training and attention please reach out to or as soon as possible. We need to find Matilda a good home!

After 2 weeks of returning to the shelter while .d.gray and were traveling, Matilda is back in our foster care. During her 2 weeks, she was anxious and overwhelmed, always barking in response to all the noise.

Coming in as a stray, we have no information on her past but do believe she’s stuck in this defense position of feeling like she needs to protect herself and her puppies. We are committed to working with her to desensitizing her to those loud and stressful environments because when she feels safe she is sweet, silly, and playful. Just look at how wonderful she does with her foster brother, Coal. More updates to come as we work to help Matilda feel safe and find her forever home!
