and well-being of homeless animals! We are a non-profit, no kill 501(c)3 organization started in 2011. Cats are located at Petco in Homewood or with foster families. Cost of adoptions are $130.00 and include shots to-date, spay or neuter, and microchip. Please FB message, call 708-308-8817 or email [email protected] to set up a time to meet our kitties!

Meet Dusty Rose!

She is a 2 year old dilute female tortie and a total trooper. Dusty arrived to us in January of 2025 after her owner passed away. Due to an undiagnosed/misdiagnosed ear polyp, she has what appears to be a permanent head tilt, even after surgery at Purdue University to remove the giant polyp. Now that we know she's not experiencing discomfort, her head tilt (from the aforementioned polyp) is totally adorable . Before the surgery, she had the tiniest, barely audible meow. She has found her voice post surgery!

Dusty needs to go home with experienced cat people. She does not like to be picked up nor does she like to be held, so no young children. She has learned to accept petting, but she lets you know when she's had enough. She does demand affection, but again, on her terms. At times, she'll come up on your lap, but even then, she's very busy doing her own thing. She would likely do best as an only cat as she hasn’t bonded to any other cats in her foster home, however she could potentially do well with a docile, chill cat. She loves to meet new people!

🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE KITTEN DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM 🚨

Not every lonely looking kitten has been “abandoned.” Sometimes mom is just out getting groceries and suddenly Jim from down the street has stolen her children.

Before you scoop up every tiny baby you find outside, here’s what to do:

STEP 1: Observe from a distance
If the kitten is:
• quiet
• clean
• sleeping peacefully
…there’s a good chance mom is nearby doing single-mother cat things.

Mama cats often leave kittens briefly to hunt for food. She will NOT come back if there are 14 humans standing around it

STEP 2: Know when intervention is needed
PLEASE help immediately if the kitten is:
• cold
• screaming nonstop
• injured
• covered in fleas
• weak/lethargic
• sitting in danger

At that point, the Cat Distribution System has chosen YOU.

STEP 3: Warm first, feed second
A cold kitten cannot digest food properly. Warm them up before feeding with a heating pad set on LOW wrapped in a towel.
And for the love of whiskers: NO COW’S MILK.
Your local pet store will sell kitten milk replacer, that’s the key!

Tiny kittens need kitten formula, not a latte.

Quick age guide:
- Eyes closed = under 2 weeks
- Wobbly baby stage = 2–4 weeks
- Walking, ears and eyes open = 5+ weeks

The goal is always the safest outcome for the kitten, and whenever possible, that means staying with mom.

If you find kittens and aren’t sure what to do, message our page. We’d rather answer questions than have another “I found this kitten and fed it tuna and oat milk” situation.

This is Cooper who sat in a dark corner of a shelter's small room. He came from an overcrowded house & months were passing at life among other homeless cats. Cat Habitat took him to their Homewood location at the Homewood Petco. Cooper loved showing his handsome self to customers & greeted them with his friendly personality. After some time, the perfect family wanted to take him home. Cooper now enjoys love & much deserved freedom with the family's other cats & dogs. This is just a reminder to think about visiting your local shelter & giving a lonely feline a second chance at having a real home. They will give you unconditional love and joy. So many need your help! Watch for another success story soon.
