Hi friends, Carolina and Saint here! ๐พโค๏ธ
Itโs been pretty warm, and with some families still without power, we wanted to share a few ways to keep us pets safe and cool:
๐ง Keep plenty of fresh, cool water available
๐ Let us rest in the coolest part of the houseโbasements are great!
๐ช Close blinds to block the sun and open windows if thereโs a cooler breeze
๐ง Place frozen water bottles wrapped in towels near our beds
๐ฆ Let us lie on a cool, damp towel or gently wet our paws, belly and coat with coolโnot ice-coldโwater
๐ Use battery-powered fans if you have them
๐ณ Keep potty breaks short and stay in shaded or grassy areas
๐ซ Skip walks and playtime during the hottest part of the day
Flat-faced, senior, overweight and very young petsโand those with heart or breathing problemsโcan overheat especially quickly.
If your pet is panting excessively, drooling heavily, struggling to breathe, vomiting, acting weak or confused, having seizures or collapsing, please contact a veterinarian immediately. Heatstroke is an emergency! Begin cooling them with cool water while heading to the vet, but never use ice or ice-cold water.
Stay cool, drink your water and keep those paws off the hot pavement! ๐ถโ๏ธ
Love,
Carolina and Saint ๐พ
