MATH CLASS!!
To date this month, 39 cats have entered the shelter however, only 16 have been adopted. That leaves 135+ cats for you to adopt! That's cat math!
Honestly though, we've had the past 3 of our transports canceled for various reasons. Our fosters are full. If you were ever thinking about adopting a new feline friend, now is the time! Adoption fees are covered thanks to the Nemec Abbott Foundation. These are just a few of the ones we have available. Come by and say hi! Take one or a few one with you! Cats do best in pairs! ♥

Mocha is our wisest shelter resident! He's about 10 years old. If there was ever a cat that would Netflix and chill with you, it is Mocha! He is the sweetest boy, loves to just be with you, be pet, snuggled, and would love to just 'do life' with you.

He's been with us since February, he has his rabies vaccine, is up-to-date on his other vaccines, neutered, and is FIV+. Please let this guy get a second chance at life! You can just come on by and ask to see him or you can apply online for more information! His adoption fees are covered.

Our humans weren't the only ones who got to celebrate yesterday. Our felines (& pups) were given special treats too! CatCups for all! Every single one of our felines was able to enjoy (some more than others) a CatCup. What is a CatCup? Why it's plain-unsweetened Greek yogurt delivered with lots of love and extra pets, of course! Thank you to our donor who provided the treats and our staff and volunteers who provided the love! 🐈🩷 You can go over to Darlington County Humane Society to see the pups enjoy their treats. 🐕

Sophia’s Pizzeria came through for us today!
During our adoption event last month, we earned a pizza party for all of our staff and volunteers that helped us make a difference for the 94 cats and dogs that were adopted by meeting goals they set forth during the challenge! Not everyone who made that happen is pictured here but we are so very grateful for every single coordinator, foster, volunteer, donor, and staff member who helps keep DCHS going! THANK YOU!!! 🐈🐕🩷

Though we reached a record high in July with our cat adoptions, intake is not slowing. We are near capacity, actually at capacity and now is the time to adopt! Thanks to the Nemec Abbott Foundation ALL adoptions are covered. We are hoping you will stop by this weekend and see who is looking to make your home theirs. We have many in our adoption rooms, cattios, and in foster so if you are having to plan your trip to us, fill out an application at darlingtonhumane.org after looking on Petfinder.com to make sure your new friend is on grounds. Meet Louis (grey) and Stevie (ginger). They entered the shelter about a month ago with severe eye infections that required each of them to have surgery to remove an eye. They also had upper respiratory infections, you may have seen us post for a foster home. Thanks to our super foster, Liz, they received the help and TLC they needed and are doing so much better! We aren't sure what Stevie's sight capability is but we do know they love to snuggle and play! Both are available for adoption and their adoption fees are sponsored this month by the Nemec Abbott Foundation! They are both male, about 16 weeks old, up-to-date on their vaccinations. They are still in foster care so an appointment would need to be made to meet them. We'd ideally love to see them go into a home together as they have come to rely upon one another. Come meet Shade today! His siblings went into trail adoption just yesterday so he is now looking for his own home to call his own. This sweet boy is about 22 weeks old, fully vaccinated, and has his neuter surgery scheduled for next week so you can trial adopt him and finalize him after we make sure he can't be anyone's baby-daddy! His adoption fee is sponsored by the Nemec Abbott Foundation if you finalize in August! Just look at those beautiful eyes! How can you say no??? We're open from noon - 6pm today so stop on by!
