A few months ago, we received a heartbreaking call from a disabled person desperately seeking help for her beloved little dog, Prince Rico. He was living in a cardboard box beside her bed because she could no longer care for him, and no one was responding to her pleas for help ... until we did.

When our volunteers arrived, they met a fragile senior pup who had numerous health issues — glaucoma, digestive issues, a heart condition, and severely decayed teeth that had to be removed. But despite it all, Prince Rico had a gentle spirit and a will to live.

Our amazing volunteer, Vida, welcomed him into her home as a foster, and with the love, care, and stability he so desperately needed, Prince Rico began to heal. He gained weight, his vision partially returned, and he now only needs minimal medication. And the best part? Vida couldn’t bear to let him go. Rico is now home for good — a “foster fail” in the best possible way. 💖

Nothing makes us happier than seeing our rescues thriving in their forever homes! Here's a wonderful update on Nikki, now Nelli, on her 1-year adoptiversary:

"I want to send a little something to the shelter to celebrate our 1 year with Nelli. She is doing great, couple of quirks but she is happy and loving life, we adore her. Thank you for everything you do! Nelli goes on a hike twice a week with a group of dogs. She is starting to be brave enough to swim. She loves everyone and most dogs. Her worst habit is she eats everything!!! I’m a proud mommy of my girl! "

Kai's mom couldn't decide between a Tux and a Calico, so she had Kai. This kitten has a remarkable blending of Tuxedo markings, along with some very distinctive shades of chesnut and tan. He is as playful and adventurous as a kitten can get. He loves to horse around with his sbilings, but also likes to climb into your arms for some cuddle time. He is a purring machine. Kai is also super talkative - he has so many different voices that one knows exactly what he is trying to communicate. Kai's brother Kona is also featured on our website. The kittens can be adopted separately or together.
