NorthPaws Animal Hospital is owned and operated by Dr. Deanna Becker and opened on December 4th, 2017 in Hagerstown, MD. We provide complete medical and surgical care for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, ferrets and smaller pets. It is our mission and privilege to provide your loved pet with the kind of exceptional, personalized and affordable health care that we expect for our own pets. We are conveniently located on Leitersburg Pike in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the MUDD Volleyball Tournament Saturday. We are so appreciative of all the support and our kind clients who donated. Our two teams (Sloppy Pitties and Chicken Thuggets) had lots of fun. Looking forward to the 2026 season!

Today is the last day we are collecting donations for the MUDD Volleyball event to support The Community Free Clinic of Washington County.

Our teams are excited to get down and muddy! We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the event tomorrow morning at 8 am.

It’s National Guinea Pig Appreciation day. Did you know
Guinea pigs cannot make vitamin C on their own. Because of this, they are at a high risk of vitamin C deficiency.
Signs of a possible vitamin C deficiency include:
Poor skin & coat quality
Delayed wound healing
Swelling or sores around the mouth
Poor appetite
Lethargy
Impaired movement
Slow or delayed growth and/or development
Even if the pellets you feed contain vitamin C, you will still need to supplement with vitamin C from another source. An example of a supplement we recommend is the Oxbow vitamin C tabs.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you need refills; we kindly ask for a 24-hour (one business day) notice to ensure we can accommodate your requests. A rush medication fill fee will apply for refills with less than 24-hour notice.

Summer fun is just around the corner and before you know it firework season will be in full swing. If you have a beloved pet that doesn’t enjoy the festivities - please reach out to our office, now it the perfect time to prepare a treatment plan.

Some basic tips include
β€’ Keeping your pets indoors in a secure area. Leash walk dogs for potty breaks.
β€’ Make sure your pets have on an ID collar and/or microchip.
β€’ Be with your pets to offer comfort.
β€’ Cover windows to block bright flashes from fireworks.
β€’ Use a white noise machine or utilize a TV/Radio to help mask the loud noises.
β€’ Over-the-counter Nutraceuticals or synthetic pheromones such as Composure Pro or Adaptil and Feliway can be beneficial.
β€’ Some pets may benefit from prescription medications- NEVER use your own prescriptions! Please call our office to discuss what makes the most sense for your pets.
