Short answer: it depends on your dog. Long answer: keep reading. π
If your dog has a double coat, shaving them for summer can actually make things worse, not better. That coat is doing a lot more than you think. It regulates their temperature, protects their skin, and keeps them insulated from the heat. Removing it disrupts the whole system.
π Single coated breeds are a different story. A summer trim is usually totally fine for them.
π The best summer move for a double coated dog? Regular deshedding and brushing, plenty of water, shade, and avoiding peak heat hours for walks.
