Short answer: it depends on your dog. Long answer: keep reading. πŸ‘‡

If your dog has a double coat, shaving them for summer can actually make things worse, not better. That coat is doing a lot more than you think. It regulates their temperature, protects their skin, and keeps them insulated from the heat. Removing it disrupts the whole system.

πŸ‘ Single coated breeds are a different story. A summer trim is usually totally fine for them.

😎 The best summer move for a double coated dog? Regular deshedding and brushing, plenty of water, shade, and avoiding peak heat hours for walks.

Still not sure what is right for your dog? Give us a call and we'll help you figure it out.

It's true. Your pet needs their teeth brushed too. But the good news is, it doesn't have to be done every day. πŸ™Œ Just do what you can, when you can. But if your pet needs a really good deep clean, bring em on in. We'll have those pearly whites shining in no time! 🦷

Arthritis doesn't always look like a limping dog. Sometimes it's subtle. Sometimes it just looks like your dog is slowing down or being a little grumpy and it's easy to write off as just getting older.

Watch for things like stiffness after rest, hesitation on stairs, not wanting to jump up anymore, or licking at their joints. Those are all signs worth mentioning to your vet.

If your dog is showing any of these, come talk to us. There's a lot we can do to help them feel better. πŸ’š grovevp.com

June is National Microchipping Month and with the 4th of July right around the corner we could not think of a better time to bring this up.

πŸ₯Ί More pets go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year. Fireworks, open doors, spooked animals, it happens so fast.

A microchip is a permanent form of identification that stays with your pet no matter what and it is one of the easiest things we can do to give you peace of mind.

If your pet isn't microchipped yet or if your contact information has changed since you got it done, now is the time to get that sorted. Come see us and we'll take care of it. πŸ’š

🐾❀️ Slice of Kindness Delivered! β€οΈπŸ•

This week, the Your Pie Grovetown team had the pleasure of delivering a Slice of Kindness to the amazing team at Grove Veterinary Practice!

They were nominated for the kindness, compassion, and care they show every day to both their patients and the people who love them. From comforting anxious pet parents to providing exceptional care for furry family members, their team goes above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of animals and their owners.

We're grateful for everything they do for our community and were honored to surprise them with pizza as a small token of appreciation.

Thank you, Grove Veterinary Practice, for the love and dedication you bring to every wagging tail, happy purr, and grateful pet parent. πŸΆπŸ±πŸ’™

Here's a question we get a lot. πŸ‘‰ How often does my pet actually need to come in?

Dr. Gray answers it in the reel but here's your cheat sheet.

πŸ’š Adult pets: at least once a year
🧑 Senior pets: every 6 months
🩡 Puppies and kittens: more frequently in that first year because of their vaccine schedule, we'll walk you through the whole thing

The once a year visit isn't just about vaccines. It's how we catch the things you can't see at home and how we make sure your pet is living their healthiest life. That's kind of the whole point of what we do here. 😎

Been a minute? No judgement here, we get it. Just give us a call and let's get them on the schedule. πŸ“…
