Meet Cheetos! 🐆🐾 Once out of her kennel, she turns into a completely different pup!

Cheetos is a super fun, energetic 1-year-old, 49-pound pup who loves to be on the move and explore the world around her. She is playful, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure. ☺️

Cheetos enjoys long walks at the park, happily greeting people along the way and soaking up attention from anyone who wants to give her pets. 🥰 She has also had positive interactions with other dogs and seems eager to make canine friends, often pulling a little to try to say hello and play.

This girl loves toys and running around. Fetch and chase are some of her favorite games, and she’s always ready to spring after whatever you toss her way. 🐾 She takes treats very gently, knows “sit” and “down,” and is eager to please. On leash, she may start out pulling with excitement, but she quickly settles into a much easier walking companion once she gets moving. She is also housetrained, making her even more ready for home life.

Cheetos rides calmly in the car once she’s had a little time to settle in, and with encouragement she hops right in on her own. 🚗 She’s affectionate, full of joy, and ready to bring her happy, playful energy into a forever home. With continued training and plenty of opportunities to play, Cheetos will make a wonderful best friend and adventure buddy. 🦮

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

🧶 Our cats’ favorite treat at the shelter is their crochet catnip fish from Sandra. ❤️

Our heartfelt thanks go out to Sandra Rivers, who has lovingly hand-knitted catnip-stuffed fish and mouse toys for our shelter cats for years. 🐠🐱

These toys bring hours of joy, comfort and enrichment to our cats; and they even bring them home! 💙 Sandra’s kindness has left a lasting impact though she is unable to continue knitting. Join us in sending her all the love and gratitude she deserves! 🥰

Meet Blueberry! 🫐🐾

She’s a 10-month-old, 35 lb puppy with muscles to match her playful energy. She may be young, but she already shows so much potential to grow into the perfect companion.

Blueberry is strong on leash for her size, mostly because she wants to sniff everything around her, but once she settles, she walks more calmly. She’s still a puppy at heart and would thrive with some training—especially since she’s VERY treat motivated (flat palm is best)! 💙 She already knows “sit,” waits politely for her leash or harness, and is eager to learn more.

This affectionate girl loves giving slobbery kisses, hopping gently into laps, and meeting new people with a wagging tail and a calm, friendly demeanor. She enjoys toys, running around, and especially chewing on her bully stick when she’s ready to relax. 🥰 Blueberry also shows signs of being housetrained and came in with other dogs, so she may do well with canine friends (with slow introductions, of course).

Blueberry is a car pro—she hops right in and loves feeling the breeze, though she’s a bit of a goofball who rolls around in the backseat and may try to climb into the front, so a restraint is best.

With her mix of energy, affection, and silliness, Blueberry is ready to bring joy, kisses and fun to her new family. 💙

Meet Bruno Mars! He’s a jerk. 🙃

Basically, he’s an unemployed working dog. 😕 The kind that nips at your ankles not because he’s mean, but because he’s trying to “herd” you around the house like you owe him money.

This 1 year old pup prefers body slams over hugs and shirt sleeves over treats but knows when it’s time to tone it down. He’s house trained, crate trained and has great recall, but please don’t expect any manners from our guy Bruno.

Under all his chaos, he’s a good dog. Smart, social, dog friendly, and actually listens when you tell him to knock it off. He’d truly thrive with the right owner needs out of the shelter ASAP. ❤️

As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.

To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12-4pm any day except Tuesday!

Meet Hank! 🐾

Hank is a 6-year-old, 81-pound Mastiff mix with a stunning black coat and a heart just as big as his handsome head. He’s working on putting on some weight to match his size, but his gentle nature is already fully intact.

Hank is very much an inside family dog and thrives on being close to his people. He met neighbors and children on his Dog’s Day Out and was kind and gentle with everyone. ☺️ He would love a home where someone is around most of the time to give him the companionship he craves as he has some separation anxiety.

This sweet boy loves his ball, rides wonderfully in the car, and walks politely on leash, often choosing to walk right next to you. He is housetrained, well-mannered inside, does fine with stairs, and has shown no destructive behavior in the home. Hank knows “sit,” takes treats gently, and enjoys being rewarded for his good manners. While he drools a little when drinking or eating, it’s not continuous and it’s a small price to pay for all the love he has to give.

Hank is affectionate, loyal and calm, but still playful and fun. He came in with another dog and may do well with a canine companion. This big love bug is ready to be part of a family again and will make an incredible best friend.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

Meet Cody, a 4-year-old, 63-pound German Shepherd / Terrier-Pit mix who is as sweet as they come. 🥰

Cody is an amazing companion with the perfect balance of adventure and affection. 💙 On his Dog’s Day Out, he showed off his excellent leash manners and hiking skills, calmly walking past people and enjoying every bit of nature. He was curious when a buck crossed the path, but he never barked and quickly refocused on the trail.

Cody loves taking breaks on the trail, where he stretches out on the ground to relax. He is a quiet, calm car rider once settled, though he does need some patience and encouragement to hop in at first. 🐾With time and treats, he is learning that car rides lead to fun adventures.

This affectionate boy is attentive and responsive, listening to “eh, eh, leave it” and tilting his head when spoken to. He takes treats gently, making him a wonderful candidate for training and bonding. With his medium energy, sweet personality, and love of the outdoors, Cody is ready to be someone’s loyal companion and hiking buddy. 🐶

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

Meet Chicken Salad 🥗, the pup who is truly *dressed* to impress! ❤️

At 2 years old and 62 pounds, this handsome boy is the perfect mix of playful and calm. He’s low to medium energy, making him the ideal companion for someone who enjoys both leisurely strolls and laid-back cuddle time. ☺️

Chicken Salad is an excellent car rider—he hops right in on his own and settles quietly as your calm co-pilot. He appears to be housetrained and, with his easygoing demeanor, may even be able to be left out when alone once he settles into a home. Crates aren’t exactly his favorite dish, but he’s working on it.

This boy really shines when it comes to toys. He LOVES them—leaping high into the air to show off his catching skills, rolling around with them, or simply chewing contentedly. 🥰 He’ll even bring them back occasionally, adding his own twist to a game of fetch. Because of his love for toys, Chicken Salad may show some resource guarding in certain situations, so he’ll need an adopter who can help set him up for success and provide proper guidance. On a recent Dog's Day Out, he did very well with trading toys!

He already knows “sit,” takes treats gently, and is eager to learn more with a little training. On leash he’s a nice walker, with just a bit of mild pulling here and there. He is affectionate, enjoys pets, and is overall good in public, though he’ll sometimes remind you that life is better with a toy in his mouth. Chicken Salad may not love baths, but he tolerates them like a champ.

With his sweet nature, toy obsession, and big heart, Chicken Salad is ready to be the main course in someone’s life.

https://new.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/GCAS-A-40743

Chicken Salad seems mildly uncomfortable around other dogs, but can easily be walked in a neighborhood and may do well with a canine companion if there are slow introductions. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

🐾 Found by a local elementary school: Meet Sheldon 🤎

When a group of local elementary school cross country runners set out on their usual route, they didn’t expect to find a dog waiting for help. 🥺Sheldon was tied to a tree along their path, still wearing his leash. The runners called for help, and our Animal Control team brought him safely to the shelter.

Sheldon is about 3 years old and weighs 32 pounds. He’s friendly and gentle but can be a little timid at first. Once he warms up, he enjoys walks, treats, and quiet time with people.

Now that he’s safe and cared for, Sheldon’s ready to find a home of his own. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a soft heart, come meet him today.

As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.

Meet our shy girlie Misty 🐾

Misty is a 4-year-old, petite 45 lb lady with a gentle heart. She has a very sweet temperament and loves people, though she can be a little shy in new environments. 💙 Misty walks slow and calmly on leash without pulling or jumping, and she enjoys exploring her surroundings at her own pace.

She is treat-motivated and rides well in the car, though busy streets and heavy traffic may make her a bit nervous. Misty is easygoing, low-energy, and enjoys quiet companionship, making her a perfect match for someone looking for a calm, loving companion. 😊

With her gentle nature and kind personality, Misty is ready to find a home where she can feel safe, loved, and cherished every day. ❤️
