For 11 years, Taki lived outside 😕 Now all he wants is a quiet place to belong.

At 11 years old and 43 lbs, Taki is a gentle, low-energy senior who has been making steady progress in foster care ❤️ Although he previously had an owner, he spent his entire life living outdoors alongside other dogs, so adjusting to life inside a home has been a completely new experience.

Taki is sweet, sensitive, and affectionate once he feels comfortable. He enjoys being close to his people, accepts affection readily, and has even started seeking out reassurance when he needs it 🥰 He's housetrained, sleeps through the night, rides nicely in the car, and walks well on leash.

One thing that's very clear about Taki is how much he loves other dogs ✅ He gains confidence from canine companions and would likely do best with a calm, friendly dog in the home to help him continue adjusting to indoor life.

He doesn't ask for much... just a quiet home, a little patience, and someone willing to let him move at his own pace. For the right person, Taki will be an incredibly rewarding companion.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To meet Taki, text his foster mom at 704-689-5027!

Chase has been thriving outside the shelter & is ready to find the family he’s been waiting for ❤️

Chase is a 1 year old and 47 lb young dog who came to us after serious illness changed his family’s circumstances, leaving them unable to care for him.

Since entering foster care, he's made incredible progress. Chase is housetrained, crate trained, rides great in the car, and absolutely loves toys 🐾 Once he's had a chance to burn off some energy, he's happy to relax nearby and soak up attention from his people.

Foster care has helped him continue building good habits, and his previous puppy-like mouthiness has improved significantly. He responds well to redirection and thrives with routine, structure, and positive interaction.

✅ Chase also loves other dogs. He has consistently shown loose, friendly body language during introductions and would likely enjoy a canine companion who appreciates playtime as much as he does.

Watching Chase decompress and settle into foster care has been incredibly rewarding, and now he's ready to find a family of his own 🖤

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To learn more about Chase, or to meet him in person, please contact his foster parent at 724-601-6377.

These pups didn’t find homes at our last adoption event… but they’re still at the shelter waiting! 🐾

Our adoptable dogs are headed back to Greensboro Shrub on June 13th from 10-12pm and honestly… some of them are starting to become regulars out there.

Starry and Pablo treated the last event like a long overdue reunion, while Fish worked the crowd the entire time making friends with everyone he met. Somehow none of them went home 😕

These events have become one of our favorite ways to get dogs out of the shelter and in front of new people, especially dogs who deserve way more attention than they get sitting in kennels 🩷

We’ll be announcing this month’s dog lineup soon so stay tuned 👀 Copper & Co. Mocktails will be on-site with free drinks!

King Lu is a gentle senior who’s really struggling with shelter life & needs a soft place to land 🥺🐾

King Lu is an 11 year old, 50 lb senior who has had a difficult past and is still learning how to fully relax and feel safe 😕 Shelter life has been especially stressful for him, and while he remains incredibly gentle, the constant noise and activity clearly wear on him.

One thing we’ve learned about King Lu is that other dogs help him tremendously ✅ After being tested with several dogs at the shelter, it became clear that canine companionship significantly lowers his stress and helps him feel more comfortable and regulated. He seems reassured by calm dogs and would likely benefit from a steady companion in the home 🐶

Even with his nervousness, King Lu has made a lot of progress. He’s started seeking out treats, affection, and quiet connection on his own terms.

King Lu really deserves the chance to leave the shelter environment behind and finally settle somewhere peaceful where he can exhale and continue gaining confidence.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

Adoption update 🥳 Hayes showed up at A&T’s campus as a stray & became the center of someone’s world.

Hayes originally showed up wandering around a local college campus. He was friendly from the start and spent about a month at the shelter before finding a family that’s absolutely obsessed.

According to his adopters, it only took about 5 days before they fully understood the phrase “who rescued who.” 🥹 Hayes immediately attached himself to his new mom, followed her everywhere, and made it very clear that cuddles were now mandatory parts of his daily routine.

We couldn’t be more grateful ❤️ These days, he is unbelievably spoiled. We’re talking birthday parties, gotcha day celebrations, constant love, and the kind of treatment every shelter dog deserves after getting their second chance.

We recently found out that Safety Pin is the cuddliest dog at the shelter & she’s still waiting ❤️

Safety Pin is a 1 year old, 52 lb girl with a happy, affectionate personality and just the right amount of goofy energy.

She’s easy in and out of the kennel, walks nicely on leash, and does especially well on trail walks where she can explore and trot around 😉 She keeps her kennel tidy and is likely housetrained as well.

Safety Pin is very people-oriented and loves affection. She’ll have little bursts of zoomies in the yard, then happily come back over to lean into you or climb into your lap for attention 🥰 She knows sit, enjoys treats, and has a sweet, wiggly personality that’s easy to love.

✅ Around other dogs, she showed positive body language while interacting through the fence and would likely do best with a dog that respects her space and matches her vibe well.

She’s playful, cuddly, and feels like the kind of dog who would settle into home life pretty naturally.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To meet/adopt, visit us in Greensboro, NC from 12-4pm any day except Tuesdays; no appointment needed.

The black pets at the shelter will be getting their spotlight next Thursday at our Black Tail Adoption Event 🖤

On June 4th, we'll be extending adoption hours until 7:30 PM so you can stop by and meet our overlooked, beautiful black pets 🍦 We’ll also have Alsie’s of the Triad on site serving ice cream throughout the event

Black dogs and cats often wait longer for homes than pets of other colors, which means some truly amazing animals get passed by every day 🐾 We’re hoping a little extra attention, a few extra hours, and a lot of community support will help change that.

Location: 980 Guilford College Rd., Greensboro, NC
Date & Time: June 4th 5:30pm-7:30pm

Billie Jean wants to show up at your door soon… he’s kinda bored of us at the shelter 🤎

Billie Jean is a 4 year old, 63 lb boxer mix who has quickly earned a reputation for being one of the sweetest, easiest dogs to hang out with.

He’s affectionate from the start and mostly just wants pets, attention, and someone to lean against. He loves meeting new people and was very social and relaxed while spending time in the adoption room.

Billie Jean is treat motivated, knows sit, down, shake and seems like he may already be house trained 🦮 He’s easy to leash and handle, and overall has a very easygoing personality.

✅ Around other dogs, he’s shown friendly behavior through the fence with loose tail wags and relaxed body language.

Our volunteers have given him the nickname “Chill Bill” to sum up his personality perfectly. Now all he needs is a place to call home.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

Meet 3 little ladies currently at the shelter who deserve some attention too 🩷

🐇 Lollipop is a 1-year-old albino Polish rabbit with bright red eyes and tiny little features that make her look permanently surprised.

🐰 Java is a 1-year-old black and white American rabbit who’s equal parts adorable and dramatic-looking. She's still under her stray hold and will be made available soon!

🐹 And then there’s Jenny, our 3-year-old Peruvian guinea pig with long flowing fur that makes everyone stop in their tracks ❤️ Jenny has been adopted!

We love reminding people that shelters aren’t just cats and dogs. Well sometimes have rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small pets looking for homes too.

Adopted ❤️ Big Boy is still patiently waiting to be noticed by his new family 🤎

Big Boy is a 3 year old, 73 lb lab mix who came from an unfair situation and arrived at the shelter very timid and unsure 🥺 Since then, he’s slowly been opening up more and more, and everyone who spends time with him falls for him fast.

He’s a very gentle, polite dog with a soft personality. He moves through the world slowly and thoughtfully, loves stopping to sniff on walks, and doesn’t ask for much 🦮 He can be unsure at first, but once he settles in, he becomes incredibly affectionate and wants to stay close to his person.

Big Boy recently participated in a magazine photoshoot and did amazing. Even while feeling a little shy, he stayed friendly and relaxed with everyone he met.

✅ He also has shown very appropriate, easy behavior around other dogs and seems like he’d benefit from a calm companion dog who could help continue building his confidence.

He’s low energy overall, easy to leash and walk, and just a genuinely sweet dog who seems relieved any time someone is kind to him.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.
