Meet our friend, Big Boy, from Guilford County Animal Services! πΎπ
Big Boy is a 3 year old, 73 Ib. lab mix who came from a rough situation and arrived at the shelter very timid and unsure. Since then, he's slowly been opening up more and more, and everyone who spends time with him falls for him fast.
He looks a bit older than he is - I mean, "Hello 2026 - who doesn't?!"
He's a very gentle, polite dog with a soft personality. He moves through the world slowly and thoughtfully, loves stopping to sniff on walks, and doesn't ask for much. He can be unsure at first, but once he settles in, he becomes incredibly affectionate and wants to stay close to his person. β€οΈ
Big Boy recently participated in a magazine photoshoot and did amazing. Even while feeling a little shy, he stayed friendly and relaxed with everyone he met. He also showed very appropriate, easy behavior around other dogs and seems like he'd benefit from a calm companion dog who could help continue building his confidence.
He's low energy overall, easy to leash and walk, and just a genuinely sweet dog who seems relieved any time someone is kind to him.
Big Boy doesn't have the loudest personality in the shelter, but he's the kind of dog people get deeply attached to once they know him.
As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.
