Meet Kate! One of this week’s guest co-captains, Kate has run with since January 2024 ( month). Inspiring fact: she showed up when she was only a few weeks into her running journey!
Kate says:
“I was really looking to feel like a part of a community and find new ways to be active. I never imagined I would find so much joy and healing in running. 10 months later (and with the encouragement from so many other runners) I ran my first marathon.”
Quite the ramp up, but that doesn’t mean getting started was easy!
“I was really nervous to show up that first time, especially having very little running experience” Kate says.
“I was worried I would feel out of place or that I would be too anxious to keep up. But, those thoughts were so far from the truth. Everyone was so welcoming and kind. I have met so many amazing people and some of my best friends through LSRC and the running community in GR.”
We’re so thankful for all of you ‘encouraging, kind, amazing’ humans of LSRC who kept Kate not only coming back but instantly being this kind of person to newer folks.
