Last month was a busy one here at Family Friends Veterinary Hospital, and we’re grateful for every pet we had the chance to care for. From general practice visits to urgent care appointments, each patient reminded us why we love what we do.

If your pet visited us this past month, share their photo in the comments or their name —we’d love to see them celebrated here too 🐾❤️

Our hospital family keeps growing, and we’re excited to welcome some adorable new patients. Here are a few of the sweet pets who joined us for their very first visits this week:

🐾 Cheese – This 2-year-old Domestic Shorthair came to us through urgent care and made herself right at home. She even posed for a sweet photo with Dr. Lexi during her very first visit!

🐾 Grey & Pippin – These 9-week-old Domestic Shorthair littermates had their first visit this week and were instantly loved by all. Double the kittens, double the cuteness!

🐾 Bunny – A gorgeous 1-year-old American Bobtail who was such a star for her exam. Her unique look and sweet personality made her a fast favorite.

🐾 Ygor the Chaos Goblin – Yes, that’s his full name! At just 4 months old, this Domestic Shorthair kitten lived up to it—though with a steady stream of treats, he was all charm.

🐾 Rocky – At 11 weeks old, this Rottweiler pup is already a true gentleman. His strong name suits him perfectly, and he won over the whole team.

We’re thrilled to welcome these pets and their families to the Family Friends Veterinary Hospital family. 💙 If you’re looking for a veterinary team that treats every patient like their own, we’re always accepting new clients—we’d love to meet you! 🐾 Senior Pets, Changing Behaviors, and How We Can Help 🐾

Have you noticed your older dog or cat acting differently lately? Maybe they’re a little more clingy, having accidents in the house, or sleeping in new spots. These behavior changes aren’t just “getting old”—they can be signs of pain, cognitive changes, or other medical issues.

Take Bella, our incredible 17-year-old patient, pictured here with Dr. Ryan! Even in her golden years, she’s full of personality—but like many senior pets, she’s had her share of adjustments. At Family Friends Veterinary Hospital, we help pet parents spot subtle changes early, so pets like Bella can stay comfortable, active, and happy.

✅ Watch for: restlessness, vocalizing, accidents, irritability, or slowed movement
✅ Schedule regular senior wellness exams
✅ Ask us about pain management, cognitive support, and environment modifications

Every behavior change tells a story—and we’re here to help your senior pets feel their best. To learn more, read the full blog post at www.familyfriendsvet.com/blog/

t’s the final week of Immunization Mondays for National Immunization Awareness Month, and we’re finishing with two frequently required—but often overlooked—vaccines: Bordetella and Canine Influenza (dog flu).

🐶 Bordetella protects your dog from a highly contagious respiratory illness commonly referred to as kennel cough.
🐾 Canine Influenza helps protect against a different contagious virus that can cause serious flu-like symptoms in dogs—and outbreaks still happen across the U.S.

Both illnesses spread quickly in places like:
✔️ Dog daycares
✔️ Grooming salons
✔️ Boarding facilities
✔️ Dog parks & training classes

Some facilities require these vaccines every 6–12 months, depending on your pet’s exposure and the type of vaccine given.

📲 Traveling soon or booking a boarding stay? Now’s the time to check your pet’s records on PetDesk or give us a call—we’ll make sure your dog is protected and ready to go!

📚 Did You Know? When the kids head back to school, your pets can feel the change too.

Many dogs and cats experience stress or confusion when routines suddenly shift. They might become clingy, anxious, or just seem “off” as they adjust to a quieter house and less attention.

Helping your pet through the transition can be as simple as keeping a consistent feeding and walk schedule, offering enrichment toys, or spending a little extra one-on-one time in the evenings.

If your pet’s anxiety seems intense or persistent, we’re here to help with personalized behavior support and calming options 💛

We had another wonderful week of first visits at Family Friends Veterinary Hospital, and we’re excited to share some of the newest patients who joined our family. From fluffy pups to sleek kittens, each one brought their own personality to the exam room and made quite the impression.

✨ Mavis, a 10-week-old Golden Retriever puppy, had her first appointment with Dr. Ryan and made all of our day!

✨ Copper, a 5-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bernese Mountain Dog mix, was an adorable and unexpected combination.

✨ Tucker, a 5-month-old Sphynx kitten, looked extra cute showing off his turtleneck sweater and was such a sweet boy for his visit!

✨ Lydia, a 15-week-old black Domestic Shorthair kitten, kept us laughing with her oversized ears and playful energy while bird watching from her exam room.

✨ Mr. Murphy, an 11-week-old Portuguese Water Dog puppy, was both fluffy and distinguished during his first visit.

✨ Frankie, an 11-week-old Chinese Crested Dog, was all sweetness in the arms of Dr. Veneman—we always enjoy seeing unique breeds!

✨ Baby, a 10-week-old Siamese Mix kitten, took in her first appointment with wide-eyed curiosity while settling in.

✨ Summer, an 11-week-old Poodle Mix, was so tiny and fluffy that our technician Monica had to grab a photo with her.

We’re so excited to welcome these pets (and their families) to the Family Friends Veterinary Hospital family. If you’re new to the area or looking for a veterinary team for your pet, we’re always accepting new clients—we’d love to meet you and your pets!
