⚠️⚠️ REMEMBER: ITS ILLEGAL AND UNETHICAL TO REMOVE EASTERN BOX TURTLES FROM THE WILD! ⚠️⚠️ Eastern box turtles are Michigan’s only land turtle. (Wood turtles following closely behind.)
- They are a threatened species and are listed as a species of special concern in the state.
- They live in a small radius for their entire lives and they play an important role in our ecosystem.
- If you find one, observe it from a distance. Say hello or take pictures. DO NOT remove it from the wild for a life in captivity. It’s illegal, unethical, and harmful to the stability of their species.
Please share this post, tell your friends, or scream it from the rooftops. Some people just don’t know better, like the former owners of this female.

This beautiful guy arrived earlier this month with a raw nose from rubbing on his enclosure and thousands of mites feasting on his blood. A long soak killed a fraction of them which can be seen in the last photo. We’ve been working day and night trying to eradicate the mites. He is in quarantine as we address his concerns but he will be looking for a home once he is in the clear. 🐍

REUNITED! 🫶🏼
This gorgeous girl took quite an adventure. She lives in Howard city and she escaped her owners yard. This tortoise traveled OVER 7 MILES over the course of three weeks and finally parked herself in a garage where she was found. She has been at our rescue receiving care while we looked for her owner. They are reunited and we’re so happy she’s home safe. 🩷

Is this not the BIGGEST bull snake you’ve ever seen?
This is Peanut Butter and she is LARGE and in charge.
Bull snakes mimic a rattle snake sound to intimidate predators but they are non venomous. This gorgeous girl will be heading to Veteran Aquatics & Exotics to live her best life. 🩷 Give them a follow to keep tabs on Peanut Butter! 🐍

We have some beautiful crested geckos, ball pythons, corn snakes, tortoises, leopard geckos and more ADOPTABLE NOW!
Enclosure and supplies can be included if you are starting from scratch. You will need to provide your own food for your reptile. Adoption fees start at $60, please help us find these reptiles homes by sharing this post. This summer has been a slow time for reptile adoptions and the surrender inquiries are overwhelming. It’s been a rough week over here with a lot of critical cases. 😕
Pictured first, is an adult male bearded dragon named Morton. He has developed an infection in his head and mouth and it has unfortunately progressed to the point of no return. His tongue has lost function and he deserves to not suffer any longer. Our vet determined that the best and most humane option for him is humane euthanasia. We were hoping for a better outcome but ultimately we will do whats best for Morton.
Pictured second is Popcorn the uromastyx. She has endured some severe burns from a heat bulb used improperly. She has some deep tissue injuries to her back which we’re hoping will heal with time and medication. She was wild caught and is a bit underweight but she is eating well so far.
Pictured third, is Shredder the Savannah monitor. After traveling towards Ohio to pick him up, he rode comfortably on me the whole way home. He’s severely emaciated and malnourished. Thankfully, I think he’s a good chance of pulling through because his appetite is okay, and we’re working on hydration and any other underlying illness. These are my favorite species to work with.
We’re working hard caring for many sick and critical reptiles. If you’re able to contribute towards our efforts, donation methods are in the comments along with our Amazon wishlist.
