This is Cyclone the Jeweled Lacerta! He’s spicy as hell but full of personality. We’re making strides with trust via tong feeding and he let me handle him without gnawing my flesh. 🥰

Yesterday, we received our smallest tortoise patient ever! 🐢
His name is Borat and he is a hatchling Russian tortoise. Shortly after hatching, Borat began to develop stomatitis (mouth rot) in his mouth.
The infection progressed and puss began to build up in his mouth which eventually prevented Borat from eating and even closing his mouth. 😢
Without intervention, Borat would have had no chance at survival.
Borat was a trooper as the puss was removed from his bottom jaw and upper jaw inside of his mouth. After, Borat could immediately close his mouth normally and use his jaw again which was a relief. 👏🏼
Borat will be here for quite a while on antibiotics and pain meds as he heals. He’s small and fragile, but we’re confident that he’s got a good chance at survival! 🥰

It’s the busy season which means frequent calls about injured native turtles.
N&N cares for captive reptiles and amphibians that are not native to Michigan. We are not permitted to rehab injured wild turtles, however we have good friends who are!

This is Lilith, the blue eyed Lucy! She has been traveling with us to programs and has reached many milestones with her demeanor. She arrived quite shy and nervous but she’s coming right around with some TLC. She is a LARGE adult and we are accepting applications for her now! A minimum of a 4 foot enclosure will be required. We do have some four foot enclosures available for purchase with adoption as well. 🐍

In August of 2025, this beautiful yellow footed tortoise took a 7 mile journey away from her home. We reunited Tabby with her owners, but due to life changes Tabby is back with us as a surrender. She will be looking for a home along with our other tortoises soon! Welcome back, Tabby! 💚🐢

Speedy the female basilisk has been available for quite some time. Please share this post to help us find her a home! 💚
She likes bugs, mice pieces, and especially shrimp. She does not come with an enclosure so her adopter will need to have one prepared in advance. She needs lots of room to climb and a large water feature to swim. She has made great improvements with handling during her time with us, though it’s not her favorite.
