Even though we had 3 of our own horses, Erika was obsessed with Bazzi. She would always go by him when we were at the barn. One of the boarders told us to watch ourselves around him as he was "crazy". He had no personal space and always tried to nip. It didn't stop us from cleaning his stall and turning him out on a regular. He was tall, skinny, uncoordinated and ditzy. Much of which was pawned off to him being a baby and in that awkward stage. He acted as if he was a toddler with ADD. He wouldn't watch where he was going and he was constantly tripping on his own feet. At times, Bazzi would run out of grain. Since he was so scrawny already, we would give him our grain so he wouldn't go without. Even with that his weight continued to drop. We had our own horses to care for, but couldn't help but to try to help him out. When the cold weather hit, I asked if we could blanket Bazzi as he would be shivering. I was concerned that he was using so much energy trying to stay warm he was loosing more weight and his coat was starting to dull. His owner was trying and she has a heart of gold, but something was definitely going on with him. By this time other boarders we're getting concerned about him as well. He was hippy, you could see most of his ribs, shoulder plate, etc. His owner was trying. She tried different kinds of things to see if it helped. Red cell, poultry probiotics, but nothing was consistent or helping. His owner was trying but had so much on her plate that Bazzi just wasn't getting better.
