🐾 Meet the Newest Canines for Change Facility Dogs in Training! 🐾

We are excited to introduce four incredible future facility dogs who are beginning their journeys with their handlers to support students and staff in schools across Michigan!

💜 Sterling will be joining Alanson Public Schools.

💜 Otis will be joining Ottawa Elementary School in the Public Schools of Petoskey.

💜 Jane will be joining Lincoln Elementary School in the Public Schools of Petoskey.

💜 Junie will be joining MacDonald Middle School in the East Lansing Public Schools.

Over the coming months, these dogs will continue to receive specialized training to provide comfort, support, and connection within their school communities. We can't wait to watch them grow into their important roles and make a lasting impact on the students they will serve.

🩸 Join Us This Tuesday! 🩸

Canines for Change is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive this Tuesday at our Training Center in Dimondale.

A single blood donation can help save multiple lives, and every donor plays an important role in ensuring blood is available for patients when they need it most.

Appointments can be made at rcblood.org/donate or through the Red Cross Blood Donor App using sponsor code: CaninesForChange. Walk-ins are also welcome.

To save time on the day of your donation, complete a RapidPass before arriving. RapidPass must be completed the same day as your appointment and can be accessed at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or through the Red Cross Blood Donor App. You'll receive a QR code to show at check-in.

We are incredibly grateful to the organizers of the Annual Photo Scavenger Hunt for choosing to support Canines for Change this year! 📸🐶

This year’s “Call of the Wild” theme made the event even more fun and memorable, and we loved seeing everyone embrace the adventure spirit throughout the scavenger hunt! 🏕️🌲

Thanks to your hard work and the generosity of everyone involved, the event raised nearly $1,000 for our organization, in addition to collecting so many wonderful toys and supplies for our dogs in training.

Support like this helps provide care, training, and enrichment for the future service and facility dogs who will go on to support individuals and communities across Michigan. Thank you for making such a meaningful difference for our team — both two-legged and four-legged!

Charlie’s impact goes far beyond the classroom. 🐾💜

After a fourth-grade student suffered a traumatic brain injury and returned to school while coping with PTSD, Charlie became a steady source of comfort, support, and reassurance throughout the recovery process.

Canines for Change is honored to have trained and placed Charlie, whose work is a powerful reminder of how facility dogs can help children heal emotionally as well as physically.

Canines for Change is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive today at our Training Center in Dimondale!

A single donation can help save lives — and it only takes a little time to make a big impact.

At Canines for Change, we also recognize the veterans who continue to carry the weight of service long after returning home. Through our Hope & Heroes Rescue Program, rescued companion dogs provide comfort, companionship, and a renewed sense of purpose to veterans in need. 🐾

Whether you’re working with a young puppy or an older dog that needs a refresher, our Public Obedience Classes are designed to help you build confidence, improve communication, and create a stronger bond with your dog through positive, reward-based training.

Classes begin June 1 and meet weekly on Monday evenings:
