Today, we honor Juneteenth—a powerful reminder of freedom long delayed and a celebration of the strength, resilience, and contributions of the Black community.

On June 19th, 1865, enslaved African Americans in Texas finally received word of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth stands not only as a historic moment of liberation but as a continuing call to reflect on justice, equity, and the work still ahead.

At VRA, we observe Juneteenth to honor the past, reflect on the present, and celebrate the future we hope to help build—one grounded in dignity, understanding, and compassion for all.

When Stinky Bigfoot, a lovable Maine C**n, started experiencing eye irritation and discharge, our Ophthalmology team — led by Dr. Bill Crumley — diagnosed him with entropion, a painful condition where the eyelid rolls inward and causes lashes to rub against the eye.

He had surgery on his right eye first, then returned a few months later when his left eye began showing the same symptoms.

Thanks to two successful procedures and some extra love from the team, Stinky is now healed, comfortable, and seeing the world clearly again.

We’re so proud to be part of his journey.

Entropion in cats—what it looks like & how surgery can change everything.

Let’s talk about entropion—a painful condition where the eyelid rolls inward, causing the fur and lashes to rub against the sensitive surface of the eye.

Stinky Bigfoot, our brave Maine C**n, has been on quite a journey with our Ophthalmology team. He first came to us for surgery on his right eye, which was causing constant irritation and discharge.
A few months later, his left eye developed the same issue, and he underwent a second procedure.

Swipe through to see his before and after transformations for both eyes.
Today, he’s healed, happy, and seeing the world clearly again.
We love being part of these journeys to a more comfortable life for our patients!
