Some reminders belong in the places we walk past every day. 🌈

During Pride Month, we’re reminded that compassion, respect, and belonging are part of the care we provide — not just for pets, but for the people who love them and the team members who care for them.

At VRA, that matters in every part of the hospital. Whether someone is here for an emergency visit, a specialty appointment, a referral, or a long overnight shift caring for patients, everyone deserves to feel respected and supported.

To our LGBTQ+ team members, clients, referring partners, friends, and community: you are welcome here. 💙

update!! If you guessed over 48 inches you are correct!!

Well done to those of you who guessed correctly, and to those of you who were just short, make sure to check in next Foreign Body Friday for a new challenge!!

Foreign Body Friday is back, and this one came with a plot twist. 👀

Thanks to Abbi, Department Manager of Internal Medicine, we captured Dr. Manoharan removing a shoestring during an endoscopic procedure.

Yes. A shoestring.

Before we reveal the final length, we want to hear your guesses.

How long do you think it was? Drop your answer in the comments. Closest guess gets bragging rights.

A quick reminder: string-like objects can be especially risky for pets. If your pet eats a shoelace, ribbon, yarn, string, or anything similar, it is always best to call your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital for guidance.

As we head into the final stretch of May, we’re feeling especially grateful for everyone who helped make this month’s ACVO exams so special.

A huge thank you to Sam from for making the trip all the way from North Carolina, treating our team to lunch, and helping bring a little extra fun to this year’s ACVO Service Animal Eye Screening visits.

Our Ophthalmology Department has loved getting to care for these incredible service and therapy animals throughout the month. These patients do so much for the people and communities around them, and it means a lot to be able to support their health in this way.

Thank you again to for helping support a program that celebrates the bond between people and the animals who help them every day. 💙

Go Team Therapy Dogs! 💙

Bella and Luca stopped by our Ophthalmology Department as part of the ACVO/Epicur Service Animal Eye Screening Program, and yes, they were every bit as sweet as they look.

Therapy dogs bring comfort, calm, and joy to so many people, so being able to help care for their eyes is something our team is truly happy to be part of. These complimentary screenings help support the health of the service and therapy animals who give so much back to their communities.

A big thank you to for helping support this meaningful program, and to Bella and Luca for making our day a little brighter.

Long weekends are great. Empty prescription bottles are not.

Memorial Day weekend is almost here, so please take a minute to check your pet’s medication supply now. If you’re running low, submit refill requests as soon as possible, as refills may take up to 3 business days to process.

A little planning now can help you avoid a stressful scramble later.

As always, our emergency team is here 24/7 if your pet needs urgent care.

A special visit from three very special dogs. 💙

Today, our Ophthalmology Department had the privilege of welcoming Fallon, Goodman, and Yarra from Guide Dogs for the Blind as part of the ACVO/Epicur Service Animal Eye Screening Program.

These dogs spend their days helping their handlers move through the world with more confidence, safety, and independence. Being able to play even a small part in supporting their health is something our team does not take lightly.

Through this program, eligible service animals receive complimentary eye screenings from veterinary ophthalmologists, helping protect the vision they rely on every day.

Thank you to a for supporting this meaningful program nationwide, and thank you to the incredible service animals and handlers who trust veterinary teams like ours with their care.

Fallon, Goodman, and Yarra were the sweetest guests, and we were so happy to have them at VRA.
