We are heartbroken to share that Dr. Harvey will be saying goodbye to her youngest son tomorrow. Please think of him and their family at noon on Friday as Alex takes his Honor Walk. We will have more information about donations in his honor in the near future.

UPDATE: HONOR WALK FOR ALEX THIS FRIDAY AT 12PM EASTERN TIME

Alex and his family have made the incredibly selfless decision to donate his organs so that even in passing, Alex can continue helping others.

On Friday, there will be an Honor Walk held at UNC Medical Center, Surgical Tower on the 6th floor as Alex is taken to give this final and extraordinary gift. Friends and members of the community are welcome to attend and line the hallway in honor of Alex and his family.

THE HONOR WALK IS SCHEDULED FOR 12PM ET

For those unable to attend in person, we will also organize a moment of silence within the polocrosse community at the same time so that people around the country and world can pause together to honor Alex’s life.

Alex was known for his kind spirit, bright personality, and his love of Hawaiian shirts. In honor of Alex, those attending the Honor Walk, or participating in the moment of silence from afar, are encouraged to wear a Hawaiian shirt in remembrance of him.

Please continue to keep Alex’s family, friends, teammates, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this heartbreaking time.

Thank you to Jason Jackson and JSK Photography LLC for this beautiful photo of Alex.

Today is World Veterinary Day, where we can celebrate our fabulous veterinarians and our fellow veterinarians all around the world. We are so thankful to have such a wonderful team! We wouldn’t be anything without you. From coming in early to help a distressed patient to staying late to see a last minute emergency and everything in between. The knowledge you share with us on the daily basis and comfort you bring means the world. We appreciate you and everything you do❤️ Thank you Dr. Moskowitz, Dr. Laden, Dr. Warne, Dr. Southern, Dr.Cooper, Dr. Harvey, Dr. Snyder, and Dr. Harris

To find hidden pain,
In the silence.
To find essence of love,
In the way they look.
To know without being told,
To heal by touch,
A life time i should learn,
To be a veterinarian.
- the dark knight

We are also very grateful to have a positive relationship with our referral hospitals. Thank you!!! just to name a few!!!

Thanks for the reminder VRA!

⚠️ URGENT WARNING FOR CAT OWNERS ⚠️
As you celebrate Easter and the arrival of spring today, we need to talk about the most dangerous item that might be sitting on your dining room table:

The Easter Lily.

To cats, true lilies (including Easter, Stargazer, Tiger, and Daylilies) are severely toxic. This isn't just a "tummy ache" toxicity.
Every single part of the lily plant is deadly to cats.

❌ The petals
❌ The leaves
❌ The pollen (even if they just brush against it and groom it off their fur)
❌ Even the water sitting in the vase!

Ingesting even a microscopic amount can cause irreversible, acute kidney failure within 36 to 72 hours.

What to do if you suspect exposure:

Do not wait for symptoms to appear. Time is completely of the essence. If you think your cat has come into contact with a lily, immediately bring them to the nearest veterinary ER.

The VRA Emergency Room is open 24/7/365 right here in Gaithersburg. If you have an emergency today, call us at (301) 926-3300 or come straight in.

Please share this to help keep our local DC Metro feline friends safe this weekend! 🐾
