We’re happy to announce a new partnership with Palm Springs Animal Shelter! 🐾

As part of our ongoing mission to be a leading resource for uniting dogs and cats with loving people—not just in Fresno, but across California—we recently collaborated on a shelter exchange to help increase adoption opportunities.

Through this exchange, we welcomed three of their medium-sized dogs into our care, while six of our small dogs—who had been with us for some time—traveled to Palm Springs for a chance to meet a new community of adopters.

At Valley Animal Center, we believe strong shelter partnerships are key to saving lives. We’re excited to grow our network and continue working together to give every adoptable pet the best chance at finding a forever home. 💙

Meet Mother Gothal — our sweet, long-term resident who's still holding out hope that this spring brings her a forever home. Despite being returned five times due to no fault of her own, this gentle Lab/Pit mix continues to wait patiently, dreaming of a family that will love her for life. She’d do best as the only dog in the home, where she can finally relax and be someone’s whole world.

This Easter photo might bring a smile, but her wish is heartfelt: a stable, quiet home where she’s truly loved.

All of us at Valley Animal Center are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Chris, the founder of Happy Cat Sanctuary. Though we did not know him personally, we knew his mission—and that speaks volumes about the kind of person he was.

Chris dedicated his life to saving cats, giving the forgotten a place to feel safe and loved. Even in the face of unimaginable tragedy, he ran back into the fire again and again, trying to save as many as he could. His bravery and selflessness cost him his life, but his legacy will never fade.

In his honor, we will continue to fight for animals in need, just as he did. We also want to thank every rescuer, shelter worker, foster, and advocate in our community. Your dedication means everything.

Rest in peace, Chris. You were a hero to the very end. ❤️🐾

Today is the Last Day to Give! Help Us Reach Our Goal!

Some of the most heartbreaking cases of neglect we’ve seen involve dogs left tied up and forgotten. Trapped on short chains for months or even years, they endure hunger, filth, and loneliness, never knowing love or freedom.

Willow (5668) was found tied up at a homeless encampment, desperately trying to care for her three puppies, who couldn’t even reach her to nurse. While her puppies have found loving homes, Willow is still waiting for her second chance.

Rambo (5669) spent nearly half of his life—four years—chained on a property, his spirit crushed by isolation and neglect.

These dogs deserve better. You can make a difference. Our Pennies for Pets fundraiser ends TODAY, and we still need $25,000 to reach our goal. Every dollar goes toward rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding loving homes for animals like Willow (5668) and Rambo (5669).
