As the summer heat climbs, so do our costs. Right now, we need your help more than ever.

Keeping our animals cool and safe during these hot months is one of our biggest challenges. Whether inside or in our feral sanctuary, every animal deserves relief from the heat. But running the AC to protect them comes at a steep cost. Last month alone, our PG&E bill topped $16,000.

Through our Did You Know campaign, we want to show you the real costs of running a shelter. It's not just about feeding and medical care. It’s about providing a safe, cool space where they can thrive.

More happy tails are wagging this week! 🐶🐱💖 We’re so grateful to share beautiful stories of dogs and cats finally finding the love and homes they’ve been waiting for.

One adoption that truly touched our hearts is Louie’s. 🐕💕 He was one of our long-term residents, often passed by because of how he acted in his kennel. To most visitors, he seemed aggressive. But outside of that stressful space, Louie showed us his true self: a sweet, gentle, and incredibly loving dog who just wanted to be understood.

It broke our hearts to see him overlooked again and again. 😔 But finally, someone saw past the fear and into his heart. ❤️‍🩹 Now Louie is home. Safe, loved, and exactly where he belongs.

There are still so many pets like Louie waiting for someone to take a chance on them.

All throughout August, as part of Clear the Shelters 🐾🎉 all adoption fees are donation based. If you’ve been thinking about adopting, this is the perfect time to say yes to love.

From Home to Kennel: Pico’s Still Hoping for Love 🐾

Pico is a sweet Chihuahua mix who came to us as an owner surrender. Since arriving, she has shown signs of stress, like jumping up and down at the front of her kennel. This behavior is her way of coping with the transition from a home to the shelter. 💕

She does great with other dogs. 🐶 While we are unsure how she does with cats, we are happy to do a cat test if needed. 🐱

This August, during Clear the Shelters, all adoption fees are donation based. It is the perfect time to help pets like Pico find the loving homes they deserve.

Don’t Judge a Dog by His Kennel 🐾

Rambo may look tough on the outside, but he’s all heart. This lovable Pit Bull mix came to us as an owner surrender and has been working hard to overcome the stress of shelter life with the help of our amazing Dog Care Team. 🐶💕

He’s learning to trust again and is ready for a calm, patient home where he can finally feel safe and loved.

This August, all adoption fees are donation-based in honor of Clear the Shelters. It’s the perfect time to give dogs like Rambo the second chance they deserve. 🏠

😿 We saved them from euthanasia... but their fight is not over yet.

Two tiny kittens found in Fresno, Bologna (6606) and Enoki (6607), were just days away from being euthanized. They’re sick, underweight, and in desperate need of care the shelter couldn’t provide. We couldn’t let that be the end of their story.

One is underweight. The other has an eye infection. We’ve stabilized them for now, but their little bodies are weak… and the truth is, their condition can always change and they may not pull through. 💔

This is the reality of rescue—heartbreaking, unpredictable, and expensive. And we can’t do it without you.

Meet Peanut, our sweet Chihuahua mix who’s looking for a second chance at love! 🐾 Sadly, Peanut was returned, but don’t let that fool you—she’s full of personality and ready to show it all off! 🐶💖 Peanut LOVES to play with her toys and is friendly with other dogs. While we haven’t had the chance to cat-test her yet, we’re more than happy to do so if needed.

We have great news!

Eshe (VALL-A-5997), the last of her litter to be adopted, has finally found her furever home! 💖 After waiting so patiently, this sweet girl is now off to live her best life, surrounded by love. 🏡

And there’s more good news—Clyde (VALL-A-6494), who was found by one of our former staff members, has also found his forever family! 🐾❤️ We’re overjoyed for these two and the happiness their futures now hold.

But while we celebrate their happy endings, our hearts are still heavy—so many more animals are still waiting, watching others leave, wondering when it will be their turn. 💔

You may remember Lemon, the mama cat left behind with her kittens near a bowling alley in Selma. One of the sweetest souls we've ever rescued, Lemon’s journey didn’t stop with her own kittens—she recently helped save another life.

A tiny bottle baby kitten was dropped off at our center in desperate need of care. With limited resources and growing numbers in foster, every new arrival stretches our capacity. But Lemon stepped in. She became a gentle, loving surrogate to the orphaned kitten without a second thought. 💕

Her kindness reminds us just how much animals give, even after enduring so much themselves.

Brought to us as an owner surrender in May 2025, Soup has watched countless other cats find their forever homes—while he remains behind. This sweet, misunderstood boy just wants a quiet home where he can feel safe, loved, and accepted for who he is.

Soup has a big heart but sometimes struggles with change and overstimulation. He needs someone patient—someone who understands that even the best cats can have bad days. He’s gentle at play, loves to nap in sunny spots, and just wants a place to finally call his own. 🐾
