Meet Sheldon—one of the amazing patients seen by CARE’s Rehab department. He has IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), so he visits us to manage his pain and dysfunction. Sheldon’s customized treatment plan includes the following:

• Laser Therapy – to help with pain management and inflammation
• Hydrotherapy – to provide low-impact strengthening and endurance

Sheldon’s owners have noticed a significant improvement in both his comfort and his mobility at home, and he loves coming in for his weekly sessions (although his peanut butter lick mat might have something to do with that!).

While Dallas' owners were on vacation, he was rushed into our ER with hypovolemic shock. It was determined that he had fluid compressing his heart, so we had our traveling cardiologist look at him, alongside our internal medicine department.
When tumors were found, our surgery team stepped in to remove his spleen and send the tumors for biopsy. While the results weren't what we wanted—cancer—we were able to get Dallas scheduled with our oncologist the next week. With needing to see five different departments in such a short amount of time, Dallas is a prime example of how we can help patients in a multitude of areas. We'll continue to give this sweet boy all the love as he continues his treatment journey at CARE.

This sweet girl’s name is Libby; she’s a patient with both the Oncology and Internal Medicine services here at CARE. During her most recent visit, we got an updated series of x-rays to help monitor her suspected thyroid carcinoma. After her x-rays, Libby took a well-deserved afternoon snooze before her departure. You may have heard of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) used in human medicine, but did you know it's used in veterinary medicine too?

Check out our Clumber Spaniel friend, Cooper, during one of his HBOT sessions to heal his wound from split paw pad disease. While he may look like he's in a spaceship, this is a pressurized chamber that increases oxygen saturation in blood plasma. High oxygen levels fight infections, rapidly reduce inflammation, and promote rapid tissue regeneration—all of which accelerate healing.
