Wanted: A Few Good Horses!

Saddle Up! wouldn't be here without our amazing horses who provide the backbone, hooves and mane to all of our programs! We've had some changes to the herd this year with horses retiring and returning to their previous homes. We are currently looking for a few good horses to join the team and make a difference in the lives of the Saddle Up! participants.

After years of faithful service, countless lessons, and immeasurable impact, it is time for two very special members of the Saddle Up! herd to enjoy a well-earned retirement.

Harley and Toby have helped hundreds of riders build confidence, strength, independence, and joy through the power of the horse. Whether they were carrying a first-time rider, providing comfort during a difficult day, or patiently helping someone achieve a new milestone, these remarkable horses have left hoofprints on the hearts of everyone they met.

Their contributions extend far beyond the arena. They have been trusted partners, gentle teachers, and beloved friends to riders, families, volunteers, and staff alike. Because of Harley and Toby, countless children and young adults experienced the life-changing connection between horse and rider.

As they begin this next chapter, we celebrate their years of service and the incredible legacy they leave behind. Thank you, Harley and Toby, for every lesson taught, every confidence built, and every life changed.

☀🐎🩷And that's a wrap on week one of Fun on the Farm! Our participants spent the week improving their riding skills, learning about horse care (and how to make healthy horse treats), making arts and crafts, being our first ever group to learn mounted archery, and so much more. Even better, our participants were able to spend part of their summer in a supportive environment in a place they love!

Saddle Up’s Fun on the Farm program operates during the summer months only (June & July). Participants are scheduled for a week at a time and come out to the farm for a 3 hour session Monday through Friday of that week.

Confidence looks different in every participant at Saddle Up!. Sometimes it’s a giant leap, and sometimes it’s a small but meaningful step forward.

During Fun on the Farm, Matie, our summer intern, spent a few quiet moments with a camper who wanted to pet Jellybean but wasn’t quite ready. With patience, encouragement, and a little time, that camper found the confidence to reach out and place their hand on Jellybean all by themselves.

Those moments may seem small, but they represent growth, courage, and independence. We are honored to celebrate every step of the journey, no matter the size. 💙🐴

There is something special about summer at Saddle Up! ☀️🐴

As part of our Fun on the Farm program, riders experience the joy, confidence, and connection that comes from time spent with horses. Whether they are learning riding skills, making new friends, exploring the farm, or simply enjoying the outdoors, every moment is an opportunity to grow.

For many of our participants, time in the saddle builds more than riding ability. It strengthens balance, communication, independence, and self-confidence while creating memories that last long after summer ends.

Here’s to a summer filled with smiles, horse hugs, and Fun on the Farm! 💙
