Simpson County KY Animal Shelter We are NOT Animal Control and have no ability to pick up animals. A county owned facility managed by Friends of the Shelter.

We have a 5 day stray hold policy and after that time, animals are available for adoption or rescue. We scan all animals who come into the shelter for a microchip and will make contact with the registered owner associated with the microchip. Be sure to keep your contact information updated with the microchip company. If you are missing a pet, always come in to the shelter immediately to check if s

he/he is here. If the pet isn't microchipped or your contact information isn't correct, then your pet is sitting here waiting for you to come look for him/her. Our goal is always to find the best fit for our animals. All applications are reviewed and verified by our Board of Directors; application information and interaction between the animals and the potential adopters are part of the decision making process. Adoption decisions are not based on who sees the animal first or who places the first application. Therefore, there isn't a benefit to putting in an application before you have physically come to the shelter to meet the animal you are interested in adopting. Visiting and spending time with our shelter pets is the very first step in the adoption process. It is very unlikely, certainly not typical for us to make a same day adoption. Adoption fees for dogs are $95 unless the dog is sponsored, then the adoption fee is $50. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm testing and microchip. An update on our renovations ... painting mostly completed. Doors and door frames need to be completed. Laundry room will get coated when all appliances are out for epoxy floor coatings. Epoxy floor coatings begin Wednesday. In the meantime, everything in the shelter needs to come out. This is a 2 week process so it will allow us to shift things around, but much will need to leave the building. Dogs will be shifted from inside to outside to allow sections of kennels to be done. Cats will shift wherever we can move cages. We're extremely grateful for the Fix Foundation, who pulls many of our cats into their adoption program. Things needed to help us out ... if you have an empty enclosed trailer and can spare it for a week or two so we can store things, that would be a huge help. If you are able to help move things, we will be focused on that Monday and Tuesday. Tarps, definitely needed for items being put outside. Rain will be our biggest challenge. Adopt ... looking for a new family member? Please stop by. We are open Tuesday thru Saturday 10 to 3. Foster ... we have momma cats and kittens that need a place to go for about a month. We have several groups of kittens with no moms, who could use a foster home as well. Be patient ... this is a huge project for our shelter. Much needed, but lots of things going on at the same time. Weā€™re not real sure how this little cutie is still here! HARDY is a spunky 2 yr old little cutie! Tiny humans make him nervous but heā€™s not at all aggressive. He is the perfect lap dog size and thatā€™s his favorite place to be! He keeps a clean kennel and walks gracefully on a leash! Come meet this little fella so he can steal your heart!
