Simpson County KY Animal Shelter We are NOT Animal Control and have no ability to pick up animals. A county owned facility managed by Friends of the Shelter.

We have a 5 day stray hold policy and after that time, animals are available for adoption or rescue. We scan all animals who come into the shelter for a microchip and will make contact with the registered owner associated with the microchip. Be sure to keep your contact information updated with the microchip company. If you are missing a pet, always come in to the shelter immediately to check if s

he/he is here. If the pet isn't microchipped or your contact information isn't correct, then your pet is sitting here waiting for you to come look for him/her. Our goal is always to find the best fit for our animals. All applications are reviewed and verified by our Board of Directors; application information and interaction between the animals and the potential adopters are part of the decision making process. Adoption decisions are not based on who sees the animal first or who places the first application. Therefore, there isn't a benefit to putting in an application before you have physically come to the shelter to meet the animal you are interested in adopting. Visiting and spending time with our shelter pets is the very first step in the adoption process. It is very unlikely, certainly not typical for us to make a same day adoption. Adoption fees for dogs are $95 unless the dog is sponsored, then the adoption fee is $50. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm testing and microchip. You guys ready!??

Sturgill is Adopted! He jumped in the truck with his new brother & sister and said let’s GO! Dad, put the shelter in the rear view mirror. 11 months was enough.

Sturgill’s new brother is Chevy. You may remember Chevy was adopted from us a year or so ago.

Such a FABULOUS day! This boy deserves every bit of fun & love he’s going have in his new HOME.

Thank you to everyone who helped him get to this day.

Looking for a fabulous family dog? Look no further than Scout. He plays a little, lounges around with his foster dog siblings& loves snuggling with his foster children.

A recent visit to the dog park highlighted what a social boy he is. He is dog friendly & has been pretty much uninterested in cats he’s encountered.

He’s fine tuning his housetraining and leash manners. His foster mom is working on his excited jumping habit.
His adopter will be able to take advantage of half-price training sessions with Darby Haas - Link Up Dog Training right here in Franklin.

Scout’s foster mom Sara will be happy to set up a meet & greet with you! I can’t tag her, but she will pop on here in the comments.

$50 fully vetted adoption fee for this gorgeous boy who we just know will grow into the best family dog ♥️

Meet ODIN.

Owner surrendered this past weekend . 1 yr old. Housetrained. Good with dogs & cats. Cute as a button. A compact, medium sized boy.

He will be vet checked this week & fully vetted for adoption. Come meet him! 10 - 3 Tue -Sat.

We can’t believe it, but Sturgill is STILL waiting for his forever person to show up to adopt him.

Despite lots of promotion (including news coverage) & lots of comments of interest, Sturgill only had 1 visitor last week. ONE 😢

This happy go lucky boy deserves a home so badly. He’s happy, friendly & has lots of love to give. His fully vetted (neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, & has been on monthly flea-heartworm prevention) adoption fee is $50.

Please let people know about Sturgill. We want to get our boy a FABULOUS home this week.

Our Adoption fees go toward the vetting costs of the shelter animals. Sponsorships of the dogs go toward their vetting costs & lowers the adoption fee from $95 to $50. Any additional costs are paid from our medical fund that is always in need of replenishment. Donations are always needed & appreciated and can be made at our website. You will receive an immediate acknowledgment & receipt of donation. THANK YOU!
