Veterinary technicians wear a lot of hats and their work is essential to patient care. 🩺 From drawing blood and running lab work to dental care, diagnostic imaging, anesthesia monitoring, patient care, and so much more, their role reaches nearly every part of the hospital. During Vet Tech Week last week, we celebrated the incredible technicians who do it all. Thank you again for everything you do!

A fall-inspired treat made just for your pup! 🎃 Mix plain Greek yogurt with 100% pure pumpkin purée, freeze, and serve for an easy seasonal snack.

A few safety reminders: Use 100% pure pumpkin only — NOT pumpkin pie filling, which may contain added sugar and spices. Choose plain, unsweetened yogurt and always check the label to make sure it contains NO xylitol (also called birch sugar) or other added sweeteners. Serve in moderation based on your dog’s size.

Halloween should be spooky, but your pet’s night doesn’t have to be. 👻 Keep candy and wrappers out of reach, secure doors and gates as trick-or-treaters come and go, choose costumes that allow easy movement and breathing, and give nervous pets a quiet space away from the action. A few simple precautions can help keep Halloween fun and safe for everyone!

Behind every healthy pet is a veterinary technician doing more than most people realize. From comforting nervous patients to assisting with procedures, running diagnostics, monitoring anesthesia, and so much more, vet techs are an essential part of the veterinary team.
This National Veterinary Technician Week, we’re celebrating the skill, compassion, and dedication they bring to their patients every single day. Thank you, vet techs, for all that you do!

Halloween candy can be more trick than treat for pets. 🎃 Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, which can cause vomiting, abnormal heart rhythms, tremors, or seizures. Sugar-free candy and gum may contain xylitol, which can cause a dangerous drop in blood sugar and liver damage in dogs. Raisins can lead to kidney failure, and candy wrappers can cause choking or intestinal blockages.

Keep candy bowls, trick-or-treat bags, and wrappers well out of reach, and remind kids not to share their treats with pets. If your pet gets into Halloween candy, contact your veterinarian right away.

For National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, we’re shining a light on a health concern that affects more pets than many owners realize. 🐾

According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, 59% of dogs and 61% of cats in the U.S. were classified as overweight or obese in its 2022 survey—and 32% of owners of overweight or obese pets considered their pet to be a normal weight. Maintaining a healthy weight can play an important role in your pet’s overall health and longevity. Not sure if your pet is at an ideal weight? Ask your veterinary team at their next visit!
