Paddy’s Paws Rescue
Dept Ag License: 527862 Thank you for visiting Paddy's Paws! Our primary goal is to find adoptive homes for amazing dogs that are located in shelters, rescues and foster homes. Our adoption process works a bit different than other shelters and rescues. Paddy's Paws serves as a coordinator for Houston rescues. We send out the applications, arrange homevisits and secure back up

fosters for each of the dogs that will be transported here. Like most foster-based organizations, we do not have a facility and set up all appointments on an individual basis. Prior to any meet and greets, we require an approved application so you will need to go through all the steps before you can meet any of the available dogs in Wisconsin. The application, reference checks and homevisit are considered part of the general approval process and we cannot guarantee that a specific dog will still be available when you complete the process, but doing so will get you access to our "match making" service where you will have bios and pictures of multiple dogs that may be exactly what you're looking for! And, of course, there's always the possibility that the dog that sparked your initial interest will still be available! Begin your application process here: paddyspaws.blogspot.com

We start with the completed application and then check references/vet records. The next step is a homevisit with family and one of our representatives. Once we have gathered all this information, we provide it to the Houston team. Then, we can set up a meet and greet with available dogs. Essentially, Paddy's Paws provides the volunteer manpower and the Houston rescues, well, do the rescue! Adoptions are approved by the team and transportation is arranged! Paddy's Paws is a Non-Profit 501-c3 organization: EIN: 47-4005691

Oak is a handsome three year old beagle who is making wonderful progress in his foster home. Petite in size at just 16 pounds, he is a sensitive and gentle boy who may be shy at first, but he quickly melts into your arms once he feels safe. Oak truly wants to love and trust his people and will thrive with someone who understands that building confidence takes time. A home with a confident canine companion and a securely fenced yard will help him continue on his journey.

In foster care, Oak has begun exploring the fenced in yard on leash with growing enthusiasm and confidence, happily following his nose and investigating every interesting scent along the way. His curiosity is blossoming, and it is a joy to watch him discover the world around him.

If you have a fenced yard and a friendly, confident dog in your home please apply for Oak, or another one of our beagles, at paddyspaws.blogspot.com

Meet Marigold!

If you're a fan of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, you'll recognize Marigold's unrelenting sweetness, curiosity, and infectious positivity.

Marigold has been with her foster, learning how to dog, for a few weeks. As her confidence builds, she learns new things about the world. She started slow with drinking out of a bowl and walking through doors. She’s graduated to jumping onto the bed to get snuggled up. Last night she let her foster know that she wanted more scratches and pets. It's an easy task, because her ears are THE SOFTEST.

Marigold's enthusiasm about the world around her is obvious. She loves to say hi to the neighbors. She likes to listen to birds and, very literally, stops to smell the flowers.

She loves dogs, people, treats, sniffing everything, wandering around the yard, being near her person, relaxing on dog bed with a bully stick, and getting all the kisses can get.

Her forever home will be able to take it slow and provide support and patience. A confident, playful dog sibling and a fenced yard are needed.

Check out Marigold, and all the other little treasures available for adoption, at Paddy's Paws:

School may be almost out, but this fella is ready to teach a class in posing!

Two year old Lefty joined the Paddy's Paws foster family today. He was too interested in the family cat, so he is on the market for a cat free home. He’s a mix and sports a tail, but the Frenchie genetics are strong with him, making him goofy, lovable, and chonky.

He’s great with kids and other dogs, LOVES a dog pool and zoomies around the yard. He’s great on a leash, too!

Think Lefty could be the right dog for you?

Rocko is still waiting for a forever home. And he’s super hopeful because there has been a surplus of eager adopters out there, who are willing to be patient, who are willing to work with differing medical, behavioral, and adjustment needs, and who are willing to do whatever it takes!

Okay, we get that those adopters want to be part of the rescue beagle stories, but what if we told you every dog has a story? Every dog deserves that same commitment? Rocko included.

Rocko suffered too. He has idiopathic epilepsy and this went untreated, negatively impacting him neurologically. He also almost died from heat stroke. He went without companionship for up to 16 hours a day.

Rocko is on the right treatment plan for his epilepsy since being in foster and his seizures are well managed, going from the reported 1-3 a day for a year, to only 1 in the last 3 months. He doesn’t want to live a busy life. He wants to stay home (with the exception of walks) without a bunch of visitors or kids, listen to birds outside, not be picked up, sit on your couch, have a consistent schedule, and head scratches. He’s fine with dogs if they don’t want to play or aren’t reactive. He likes lazy. He likes slow and steady without a lot of transition. He needs a routine.

He has a story too. And he won’t be for everyone, but we hope he’ll find the right home for him.

The Fireside Theatre is an absolute treasure in our hometown!

The Fireside’s Charitable Giving Committee selected our rescue as their Charity of Choice for the 2026 show run of Hairspray the Musical, donating $3,725.00 to our organization!

Just another wonderful reason to add The Fireside Theatre to your list of “must support” businesses and check out their incredible performances, fantastic food and drinks, and gift shops that have something for everyone (with a plethora of dog themed gifts!).

Thank you to The Fireside and our volunteers who visited to share more about our organization! These funds will literally change lives!

Mirror, mirror, on the wall...
Who's the cutest pup of all?
It's you, Hayden! ❤🐾

At just 3.5 months old and approximately 6 pounds, Hayden is the definition of puppy charm. One of his ears is still deciding whether it wants to stand up or flop down, and honestly, it only adds to his irresistible personality. Hayden has already won everyone over with his sweet, easygoing nature.

This adorable mixed breed pup enjoys fluffy toys, spending time with dogs and people, and is surprisingly good at entertaining himself with independent play. When he's feeling energetic, you'll catch him doing happy zoomies around the fenced yard before settling back into his calm, content self.

If you're looking for a sweet, gentle companion with a lovable face, Hayden might just be your perfect match. His adopter will need to commit to having him neutered and taking him to a puppy class by six months of age.

In addition to transport today, we welcomed three additional beagles into our program. These three sweethearts were transferred from the Jefferson County Humane Society in order to help them blossom. What a great partnership and done in the best interest of the dogs…exactly what animal welfare should be centered around!

Oak, Iris and Huckleberry, we’re excited to see you bloom in our care!

And speaking of blooming beagles, Marigold, Rosebud, Fern and Poppy are thriving in foster and ready for their forever!
