One of the highlights of my time at the International Association of Canine Professionals Conference was the opportunity to meet many esteemed trainers, including Robert Cabral—someone I have long respected for his knowledge, experience, and practical approach to dogs.

There is always something special about learning from people who have spent decades working with dogs of all types, especially those who challenge us to think critically, look beyond trends, and focus on what is truly best for the dog in front of us.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to meet Robert and continue learning from respected voices in our field. No matter how long we have been training, there is always more to learn. 🐾

Naz’s First Vet Visit! 🐾🩺

Every service dog has milestones on the road to changing someone’s life, and today was an important one!

Service dog in training Naz had her very first puppy wellness exam with Dr. Gensler at Tyranena Veterinary Clinic, and I’m happy to report she received a clean bill of health! 🎉

Even more impressive than her report card? Naz showed everyone what a future service dog should look like. She was calm, confident, polite, and handled her examination like a true professional. From being gently handled to meeting new people in a busy veterinary setting, she took it all in stride and made me incredibly proud.

Experiences like these are an important part of raising a successful service dog. Every positive outing helps build the confidence and resilience she’ll need to one day support her future partner.

A huge thank you to Dr. Gensler and the wonderful team at Tyranena Veterinary Clinic for taking such great care of Naz and helping make her first visit a positive one.

Way to go, Naz! Your journey is just beginning, and you’re already making us proud. 💙🐾

The last couple nights have been Naz’s first time away from everything she’d ever known. A new “home”, new people, a new routine, and no familiar pack to curl up beside. She was a little unsure and a little sad, and that’s okay. One of the most important parts of training isn’t teaching commands. It’s building trust. So the last couple days haven’t been about perfect obedience, but helping Naz settle in, make new friends, and realize she’s surrounded by people who care deeply about her success. Welcome sweet girl, we can’t wait to show you what comes next.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here but please join me in welcoming Naz into the pack! She’ll be staying with me for the next year (plus) to complete her training as a diabetic alert dog. Like all service dogs, her beginnings will start with basic puppy training, basic manners, and then on to advanced training-to include task training. I hope you’ll follow along with her journey in becoming the super hero she’s destined to be! Yes her teefers are showing in this pic 🤓 😍
