Yesterday we welcomed 5️⃣ new dogs to NPA!

We were able to save these cuties from rural shelters that were out of space because we had foster families committed to taking them in. 🙌

As a small foster based rescue, we can only save the lives of Virginia’s most at-risk dogs if we have foster homes to place them. Fostering is an amazing way to help homeless dogs! 🥰 We provide support, vet care, and supplies. You provide your ❤️ and 🏡.

He’s handsome (obviously), loyal (like, ride-or-die loyal), and has the kind of charm that makes strangers stop mid-walk just to say hi. 👋

Basically, he’s the furry version of that friend who always knows what to say to break the ice—except his pickup line is “Hi, I’m adorable.” 😉

Lucas is about a year old, 65 lbs of pure love, and fully recovered from his rough start in life. 🙌 Now he’s ready for everything: hiking trails, swimming spots, morning runs, and car rides to wherever the fun is. 🤩 He’ll happily join you for big adventures or just help you look cooler than you actually are at the coffee shop patio. 😎

Happy FriYAY! 🥳

Nothing beats coming home to a playful pup after work on a Friday!

Pepper and Purdy are ready to bring all the joy to your future Fridays…and really every day of the week. 😜

Pepper and Purdy are two of seven puppies that were born on a farm in Southern Virginia. They are now 9 weeks old and about 10 lbs.

They’re having so much fun in their foster home.

Their foster mom says:

“Purdy loves to play and explore new places. Pepper is super sweet and laid back. She loves to eat, snuggle and give kisses. They’re both excellent travelers and are doing great with crate training and have been exposed to horses, chickens, other dogs and cats.” 🐶❤️🐶

Someone please give Jayde a chance! 🙏

Yes, she is shy and skittish….

She came from a hoarding situation and didn’t get the socialization she needed at a young age. 😢 BUT she is wonderful with other dogs, especially if that dog is confident and likes to play! 🐾

Sadly, Jayde will likely always be scared of new situations and people. But we can promise you that once she trusts you she will be your best friend. 🤗 She’s the best cuddler at night, will curl up by your feet while you telework, and will do the cutest happy-dance when you come walking through the door. 🥰

How stinkin’ cute is this puppy⁉️

Rachel is one of 7️⃣ puppies that were born on a farm in Southern Virginia. She is now 8 weeks old and about 10 lbs.

Rachel is having a wonderful time in her foster home and they're loving having her.

Her foster mom says:

"She’s so smart and sweet! She can be shy at first but warms up quickly and loves to be with her people! She has typical puppy energy but settles down quickly and is happy to cuddle on the couch. She’s been doing amazing with potty training and will even whine when she needs to go out. She loves to play with small dogs, but big dogs are still a little intimidating for her. She’s met our cats and did not react to them much at all! We have really enjoyed fostering this sweet girl!" ❤️🐕❤️

Roo is 1-year old and 50 lbs. 🐕 He is the sweetest boy with the most adorable ears! He is still very young and learning that this world isn’t scary, but he warms up fast…especially with another confident dog to show him the way. 🥰 Roo is going to make a wonder companion for some lucky adopter! 🤗

Kirby’s adoption fee is waived for the month of August! 🙌

Kirby is about 3 years old and 30 lbs of sweet sidekick. 🐕 He’s a great size for most families. Roadtrip? He’s down. A nice walk? He’s interested. Lounging on the couch? He calls little spoon. He’s up for anything. 🤗

Kirby is what we call a “turn key” dog…he won’t need long to adjust! He will march right into his adoptive home like he’s always lived there! 🐕

Kirby was found as a stray and ended up in a rural shelter awaiting rescue. So far he seems to be crate trained, dog friendly, potentially ok with cats & possibly housebroken! 🤩

We have some exciting news…🤗

For the ENTIRE MONTH OF AUGUST all adoption fees on adult dogs over 1-year old are waived! 🙌

We have so many amazing dogs to choose from. While puppies are adorable; they are also a lot of work.😬 Adult dogs are typically housebroken, crate trained, walk well on leash, and will let you sleep in on the weekends. 🤪

We’re welcoming 5 new puppies today and Oak helped us shop for supplies! 🤗

Oak is our last remaining basset hound mix puppy looking for his forever home. At only 2 and a half months old, Oak is mature beyond his age. 🤩 He’s already getting the hang of housebreaking and is good with kids and dogs. His favorite things to do are give kisses and play with toys! 🐶
