And then there was ☝️.

Cosmo is the last of his littermates to find a home. 😢 And the more we get to know Cosmo the more we love him and want him to find his perfect family. ❤️

Cosmo’s foster family went out of town last week and he got to spend time in two other foster homes and did amazing in both. 🙌

Foster family 1️⃣ said: Cosmo loves to play and would make a great furry brother to your dog.
This boy knows sit, shake and down, sleeps all night long without a peep and is house trained!

Foster family 2️⃣ said: We loved spending time with Cosmo. He takes only a minute to warm up and is then your best friend! He played all day with our 9 month old pup, went to the brewery, enjoyed going on runs, and cuddled up next to us on the couch. He’s a very smart and awesome puppy!

🚨Foster Homes Needed🚨

Shelters are full! And as the weather gets nicer the number of dogs being surrendered and found as strays will go up. 😢

NPA is a foster based rescue which means we can only commit to saving a dog if we have a foster home to place them in.

We could not save the lives of Virginia’s most at-risk dogs if it weren’t for our wonderful community of fosters. 🙌 We provide all the support and supplies needed and the foster provides their ❤️ and 🏡.

Fostering is one of the most rewarding ways you can give back to homeless pets. And because we are so thankful for the support we have a foster referral program which gives the foster or a family member/friend priority over the adoption of their foster pup. 🥰

Pictured are some dogs currently in overcrowded shelters. We would love to save some of these deserving dogs but we need your help. 🙏

UPDATE: Wow…so much interest in this little guy. He has been adopted!

Simba is the tiniest little lion 🦁 in all the land.

He's about 3 months old and under 4 lbs. We don't know for sure what his breed is but he's going to be a small dog full grown. 🐕

Simba has been in a foster home with dogs, cats and kids. He loves everyone! 🤗 And he's a smart one. He's crate trained and is doing amazing with housebreaking. 🤩 This little guy is such a joy to have around, and he brings a smile to everyone's face. 😁

We don’t know how AI perfectly described Lucas as a human based off a single picture, but it is SPOT ON! 😜

Name: Lucas

Age: 25

Appearance: Athletic and outdoorsy with sandy-brown hair, a neatly groomed beard, and warm hazel eyes. He often wears a light windbreaker, joggers, and sneakers, always ready for a hike or a game of fetch—er, frisbee.

Bubba wanted to get in on the Barbie trend too!

And honestly, this might be the cutest one we’ve see. 🤗

Bubba has had ZERO interest. 😢 Which is crazy because he’s such a great dog! Yes, he’s a senior at 12 years old, but he’s a puppy at heart and doesn’t act his age at all. 😜

Bubba lives for his walks and loves going for car rides. 🐕‍🦺 He’s housebroken, crate trained and an expert napper. He’s very people orientated and will be his adopters best friend for life! 🥰

Oreo and her fur-siblings were sadly surrendered to a rural shelter when their owner was admitted to assisted living. 😢 Understandably, they were very scared and confused when they lost their home and ended up in a loud shelter.

Oreo is about 5 years old and 15 lbs. She can be nervous at first but quickly warms up to her people and becomes a total cuddle bug. 🤗 Oreo is the definition of a lap dog and if she's not in your lap she is right beside you wherever you go. 😍 She's been good with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys running around with them outside. Oreo is housebroken, super snuggly, low-key, and gives the sweetest kisses. 😚

Introducing, Lovey! 🥳

Lovey and his fur-siblings were sadly surrendered to a rural shelter when their owner was admitted to assisted living. 😢 Understandably, they were very scared and confused when they lost their home and ended up in a loud shelter.

Lovey is about 2 years old and 18 lbs. 🐕 He can be nervous at first but quickly warms up to his people and becomes a total cuddle bug. He is the sweetest little guy and will wiggle is way over to you to give you a kiss. 😘 He's currently in a foster home with other dogs and doing well. He is housebroken, super gentle and sweet, playful, and a total love.

His foster mom says: “Lovey is the sweetest little thing ever! He is true to his name and so loving. He just wants to snuggle and get pets all day long! He has done all his potty outside. Goes into the crate while I am at work and overnight. He gets along well with my dogs and my children. My son loves to have him lay in bed with him while he plays on his tablet. He is a super easy dog and pretty much turn-key!” ❤️❤️❤️

Our sweet senior, Bubba, is in need of a home! 🙏

Bubba is 12 years old and 32 lbs, but don’t let his age fool you, he’s still got a lot of life in him!

Sadly, Bubba found himself at a rural shelter after his owner passed away and is looking for a loving home to ride out his senior years. 😢

Bubba loves to go on long walks and sniff every leaf and tree he can. 🐕‍🦺 He walks well on a leash and is house broken. He appears to be a bit hard of hearing, which means you can grind those coffee beans early in the morning without worrying about waking him up. 💤 At home, he loves to stare out the window and watch people and animals wander about. He will let you know when he sees something interesting! Bubba loves cuddling on the couch, chewing on bones, playing tug-o-war, and giving everyone kisses. 🥰 He is super friendly and loves to just be in the same room as you while you do your thing. ❤️

Bubba would do best as an only fur child.

Happy National Puppy Day! 🥳

Cosmo and Nova are such amazing puppies and deserve great forever homes. They’re about 4 months old now and getting big! 🐕‍🦺❤️🐕‍🦺

Both boys are super smart and getting really good at housebreaking. They’re already learning commands like ‘sit’, ‘shake’, and ‘down’. 🤩 They’re super sweet and bond quickly with their people.

We have a new kid on the block.

Say 👋 to Lucas!

Have you ever seen a more handsome pup? We haven't either! 🤩 But Lucas is more than just a pretty face, he is a wonderful dog as well.

Lucas is about a year old and 65 lbs. 🐕

Sadly, he was left in an outside kennel at a rural shelter skinny and with a neck wound. 😩 He tested positive for Heartworm Disease and has finalized his treatment and is now ready to find his forever home. 🙌

Lucas is a fun loving dude! He is great with other dogs and is having the time of his life running and playing with his foster siblings. 🥰 He lives for being loved on and is super sweet. If you enjoy taking your dog with you on adventures, Lucas is happy to join and rides very well in the car. ❤️

Visi is our longest term resident and has now been with us since August! 😫

Visi is in an amazing foster home but she would really love a forever home to call her own. 🙏

Visi is practically perfect! She is about 50 lbs, which makes her great to travel with, and she enjoys car rides. She loves walks and does great on a leash. 🐕‍🦺

Visi is housebroken, crate trained, dog AND cat friendly, and loves all humans! 🤩 She knows “come,” “sit,” “crate,” “shake,” and is working on “stay.” She will even put herself to sleep at night. 🥰
