Today is World Veterinary Day. The theme this year is “Animal Health Takes a Team.” The theme was chosen to reflect the importance of teamwork in veterinary care. It takes a collective effort to expertly care for your pets. Some reasons for no appetite include dental problems, infections, or even an underlying digestive problem that is undiagnosed. Don't risk your pet's health. This is Ziva. She is a 14 week tabby that came in to see Dr. Woods for her first visit. Ziva is a panleukopenia survivor. Panleukopenia is a very contagious and often life-threatening disease of cats. It is a feline distemper virus. Fortunately Ziva survived and is doing well. The vaccination for panleukopenia is very effective at preventing disease. We do routinely vaccinate all cats yearly for this virus. Ziva is such a sweet and tough girl and we are happy to welcome her to Danforth. We look forward to caring for her through all her life stages.

Spring allergies aren't just for humans! Danforth Animal Hospital knows the months of March, April, and May can be no fun for pets either. Dogs and cats with allergies may also experience skin rashes or excessive licking. To help your pet, keep them indoors during high pollen days, wash their paws after walks, and keep windows closed to prevent allergens from entering the home. If you notice your pet showing allergy symptoms, it’s a good idea to visit us for advice on treatments or medications to provide relief. danforthanimal.com
