Urgent Pet Care Center is a locally and privately owned business that has roots in the Oklahoma City metro area. Our experience has allowed us to build relationships with your primary care veterinarian so that we can bring the best possible care to your 4-legged family member. As an Urgent Care facility, we aim to fill a needed service between your primary care veterinarian and the Emergency/Specialty Referral facility.

🐾 Meet Moira Rose and Mabel! 😍

Both of these curious pups recently found themselves in some trouble:
🍫 Moira Rose sniffed out some sweet treats. She got into a large amount of brownie bites.
🍇 Mabel snacked on some grapes.

Both chocolate and grapes are toxic to dogs, so our team quickly induced vomiting to help get the harmful foods out of their systems. Thankfully, they’re doing well now! ❤️

👉 Remember: many “people foods” can be dangerous—even deadly—for pets. Some of the biggest culprits include chocolate, grapes/raisins, onions/garlic, xylitol, caffeine and bones. There are also a wide variety of non-food items that can be dangerous if ingested. If your furry friend eats something they shouldn’t, don’t wait. Give us a call if you have concerns or questions.

🐾 This sweet girl is August, the mini Aussiedoodle. She came to Urgent Pet Care Center when her family noticed her eyes were red, irritated, and just not looking right. After an exam by our veterinary team, we diagnosed her with conjunctivitis—and got her started on medicated eye drops to get her feeling better fast. 💊💧

Common signs of conjunctivitis in pets include:
🔴 Redness or swelling
💧 Discharge from the eyes
😣 Squinting or pawing at the face
🐌 A sudden change in eye appearance or behavior

👀 Eye issues can worsen quickly, so it’s always a good idea to have them checked out—just like August’s family did. She was a champ during her visit and is already on the mend! 🐶💙

🎆 We will be closed on the 4th so our team can celebrate the holiday, but will be open normal business hours on 7/3 (12pm-10pm) and 7/5 (8am-6pm).

🇺🇸 The 4th of July is a fun time for humans, but it can be a stressful—and even dangerous—time for pets. Here’s what you need to know:

🚫 Fireworks & Loud Noises: Sudden bangs and bright flashes can cause severe anxiety, leading to pets bolting, trembling, or injuring themselves. Keep them indoors in a quiet, secure space.

🆔 Update ID Tags & Microchips: More pets go missing on the 4th of July than any other day. Make sure your pet’s ID tag is current and microchip info is up to date, just in case they slip out. Keep doors, gates and fences secure.

🍔 BBQ & Party Foods: Many festive foods—like ribs, corn on the cob, alcohol, and desserts—can cause choking, pancreatitis, or poisoning in pets. Remind guests not to share!

🔥 Open Flames & Grills: Curious noses + hot grills or fire pits = potential burns or accidents. Keep pets well away from cookouts.

❤️ Stay Prepared: If your pet shows signs of distress—panting, pacing, drooling, or attempting to escape—try to comfort them, use a white noise machine, or talk to your veterinarian ASAP about calming options.

🐾 This handsome pup, Loki, came to see us with some tummy trouble—vomiting, loose stool, and a lack of appetite.

Loki has a bit of a reputation for snatching things he definitely shouldn’t be chewing on… like birthday cards and socks. 🎉🧦 While it might seem funny at first, foreign objects can cause serious gastrointestinal upset—or worse.

We took x-rays to make sure there wasn’t a GI obstruction. Thankfully, there wasn’t! Loki was treated with subcutaneous fluids to prevent dehydration, an anti-nausea injection, and an appetite stimulant. He’s back home now with his tail wagging and a strict “no sock” policy in place. 😉

⚠️ Pet parent tip: Keep small, tempting items out of reach—especially if you have a curious chewer at home!

🐾 Say hello to Chief — a handsome hunk who came to see us after a little hiccup in his healing journey.

Chief came to see us after he lad a lump removed. Unfortunately, his incision site reopened before it could fully heal. This kind of thing can happen, especially if a dog is extra active, sneaks in a few licks, or if the skin just doesn’t cooperate during recovery.

Our team cleaned the area, checked for any signs of infection, and got his surgery site closed back up. He’s now resting (begrudgingly!) and healing with some extra help from us — and maybe a few extra treats too. 🐶💚

💡 Reminder for pet parents: Always monitor your pet’s incision after surgery. If you notice redness, swelling, discharge, or if the wound reopens, give us a call or just walk in. A quick check can prevent bigger problems later.

🐾💓 Meet Charlie-a sweet, curious pup that came to see us at UPCC. He got ahold of a brand new bottle of his housemate’s cardiac medication and ingested all of it. These meds are lifesaving when prescribed correctly, but in the wrong paws, they can be seriously dangerous. ❤️‍🩹

Thankfully, Charlie’s family acted quickly and rushed him in to receive care. 🏥 After emergency treatment, lots of monitoring, and some TLC, he’s back to his tail-wagging self!

Reminder: Always keep all medications—pet and human—secure and out of reach. 💊 And if your curious critter gets into something they shouldn’t, don’t wait—we’re here to help, no appointment needed.

Watch out for:
• Lilies ✨: Beautiful, but highly toxic to cats! Even a little can cause serious kidney issues.
• Chocolate & Candy 🍫🐇🍬: Yummy for humans, but dangerous (and sometimes deadly) for pets—especially if it contains xylitol.
• Easter Grass 🌱: That shiny fake grass might look festive, but if swallowed, it can cause serious tummy troubles, even leading to obstruction.
