Standish Humane Society Every year, we help thousands of cats and kittens through adoptions, Trap-Neuter-Release, low-cost spay & neuter assistance, and more.

Standish Humane Society is a non-profit tax-exempt organization of volunteers dedicated to the care and placement of lost, stray and abandoned pets in southeastern Massachusetts.

ADOPTED Chester, gr/wh, was adopted by a couple with a mild older cat at home. Chester is an incredible cat with good looks and matching personality. He loves to be petted and was climbing in their laps.
Obsidian, bl/wh, and Nilla, an absolutely stunning long hair buff and white female, went home together. While these two do not know each other yet, this amazing home decided they could be patient enough to wait for Nilla to acclimate and for the two to meet slowly.
Dodge, gr/wh tabby, was our featured cat who some might remember had a terrible time adjusting to shelter life ... was adopted today. Thank you to our fantastic foster home that took him in and allowed him to adjust over time. Dodge ended up being a love to his foster parents but definitely needed time to acclimate and needed a cat savvy adult home. Thanks to this foster home, Dodge is on to his next chapter in life.
Garrett, bl/wh, also found his forever home.
Mozaic, a dark calico who just arrived, is now chosen as a first pet to a young couple. Mozaic came in as sweet as pie and loved all the attention she could possibly get. She was in a lap within minutes.
Along with these shelter cats, many many kittens are being adopted out of our loving foster homes.

Mabel, 11yo, is a sweet, gentle soul looking for a calm and loving home where she can truly relax and be cherished. She has a kind, affectionate personality and loves quiet companionship. Once she bonds with someone, she becomes deeply loving — offering soft head bumps, cozy cuddles, and curling up on your lap when she’s in the mood.

Mabel enjoys peaceful days spent looking out the window, lounging nearby, and simply being close to her person. She has a very gentle temperament and never hisses. She especially seems to connect well with older adults and people who appreciate a calm, quiet companion.

She has lived successfully with one other cat and tolerates nail trims surprisingly well. Mabel would do best in a calm, quiet home without young children. She has had difficulty adjusting to the activity and changes that come with a busy household and seems happiest in peaceful environments where she can feel secure and relaxed.

She truly deserves a patient, caring home that will appreciate her tender heart and gentle nature.

ADOPTED Chester, age 3, is a sweet boy with a story that shows just how strong and resilient he truly is. Before coming into our care, Chester was found out on the streets, unneutered and fending for himself. Life hadn’t been easy for him, yet through it all he kept going with quiet strength.
When Chester was finally neutered and able to receive the care he deserved, it was discovered that he had a large wound on his toe — something you never would have known by looking at him. He never complained, never let it slow him down, and carried on like the brave boy he is.

ADOPTED Macky, bl/wh, was adopted to a home that has adopted from Standish previously. The resident cat is a female but this home chose Macky as he is such a warm and affectionate companion.
Blueberry, a grey stripe tabby, is now home with a couple that have two other resident cats for Blueberry to meet eventually. Blueberry was so affectionate and playful with them, they are sure it will be a great fit. CONGRATULATIONS

Maeve is a 6-month-old sweetheart who is ready to find her forever home. She is a playful kitten who absolutely loves chasing her toy mouse and pouncing on wand toys. To win this kitty's heart quickly, simply bring out the snacks—especially Churus, her absolute favorite!

While Maeve can be a little shy in new environments at first, once she warms up, her incredibly affectionate personality shines through. She loves being petted and will happily roll around, showing off her belly while looking for those perfect cheek and chin scratches. As soon as she is happy, the sound of her "motor" running becomes clear—she is a major purrer!

Lucky is a male longhaired kitten. This handsome guy spent some time charming a kind gentleman from the backyard, showing up regularly and proving just how sweet and friendly he is. It didn’t take long for everyone to realize that Lucky wasn’t meant to be living outside.

Although the gentleman already had cats of his own and couldn’t bring another one home, he made sure Lucky got the care he needed and helped him make his way to Standish so he could find the forever family he deserves.

Tiago, age 1, is a former stray with the sweetest soul you could ever meet. Despite his rough start, this handsome boy has nothing but love to give and is happiest when he’s close to his people.
Tiago absolutely adores affection and will gladly soak up all the pets, cuddles, and attention you’re willing to give. Whether he’s curling up beside you or following you around for extra love, he just wants to be part of the family.

Say Buongiorno to Arrivederci! This fluffy guy has been through a lot in his four years, and he doesn't make a great first impression. He can be scared and wants everyone to think he's very tough, so he greets you with hisses in the beginning. Over time, once you feed him and talk to him for a bit, he turns into a lap cat who wants pets and will talk to you with meows the whole time, always telling you all about his day and what he got up to while you were away. He has the best, fluffiest ears, and loves rubbing up against you, playing, and snuggling. They say the best things in life are worth waiting for, and Arrivederci is a perfect example of that. He might take some time to settle in, but once you are in, he's so worth it!
