Thornberry spent about three months outside in the cold before someone finally reached out for help. He was brought into safety, vetted, and then came to Standish to find his forever home. When he arrived, he had a painful abscess on his lip, yet he never complained and allowed us to care for him with incredible patience.
Now healed and safe, Thornberry happily charges over for pets and affection. He’s full of gratitude and love, clearly thankful that someone cared enough to change his story. Thornberry is ready to leave the cold behind and have the warm, loving life he’s always deserved.

Thor started life without the care he deserved. His former family didn’t nurture him—he was overfed instead of loved, and as a long-haired cat, he was never brushed. Mats pulled painfully at his skin, a quiet kind of neglect that still left a mark.
But Thor’s heart stayed soft.
He leans into every pet like he’s been waiting years for gentle hands. When we finally brushed him, even through the tangles, he was patient and grateful—like he knew this time was different.
Thor reminds us that even when love is missing, hope is still there. He is sweet, forgiving and steady. Beneath the strong name and big body is a tender soul who just wants to be cared for—and who gives love right back.

Wayles, an adult male, was found wandering in the backyard of a kind woman who had been seeing him around for several months. She searched high and low for an owner, but when no one came forward, she made sure Wayles got the care he deserved. She brought him to the vet to be neutered and brought up to date on his vaccines, then brought him to Standish to help him find a loving home.
Since arriving, Wayles has shown just how sweet he is. He greets everyone with a big, loud meow asking for attention and will rub against you the moment he gets close. Wayles is affectionate, friendly, and clearly ready to trade outdoor life for a cozy home where he can soak up all the love.

✨Meet Carmine✨

Carmine is a 6-month-old soft and snuggly orange boy looking for his forever home. He was born outside, and a kind person who had been feeding him reached out to us for help. He adjusted quickly to indoor life and has decided it suits him perfectly.

He can be a bit shy at first, but once he lets his guard down, he'll become your best friend. Carmine loves exploring, soaking up chin scratches, and dramatically rolling onto his back to show he’s happy. He is goofy, silly, and full of personality.

ADOPTED! Suze, pictured, has selected her human. After meeting multiple cats, this kind-hearted woman connected with Suze immediately. Suze came right out to meet her with no hesitation. After their eyes met, the adopter said, “I want her.” The adopter understands that Suze needs time and patience to fully blossom, and she will be loved like the princess she is!
Logie, a grey male tabby, was adopted by a man looking for a companion cat. The connection was immediate. Logie played with him and gave him headbutts, and the adopter didn’t need to meet any other cats.
Topanga , a brown female tabby, went home with a woman who didn’t know she needed a lap cat until Topanga jumped up and made herself right at home. She relaxed completely under the adopter’s gentle pets. Topanga picked her person and walked right into the carrier, ready to be showered with the love and affection she had been asking for every day at the shelter.
Along with these three lucky cats, many cats and kittens were adopted from foster homes. Thank you to our volunteers and supporters who shared our posts that make all of these adoptions possible.
