Simba is so sad and not feeling good 😭🥺
We will keep everyone updated on his progress.

Nick is on the mend which is great. We just need to get Simba there as well. Thank you to everyone who has donated to his care. It’s big help. Any funds that we have raised are being strictly used for his care. ♥️

We have so many dogs, and so many vet bills. We are absolutely getting hammered. 😭🫣

Update: It’s confirmed Simba has Pneumonia. We need to isolate him while he gets through this. He’s on a few aggressive antibiotics. If you know anyone WITHOUT dogs that can help us for 2 weeks please ask them to fill out an app.

Any financial help with him will be greatly appreciated.

Simba is still on the struggle bus. 🥺
We have had him on very strict kennel rest. He’s been taking all his meds like a champ but it’s not enough.
We are back to Pembroke Animal Hospital today to find out what else is going on. He was a little upset with us this morning for not giving him his breakfast as he needs to be sedated for x-rays.

My sweet boy Clyde ♥️
Clyde is a 2 yr. old Shepherd mix, weighing in at 47 lbs. He’s awesome!! 💙

Clyde has settled well into our home. He would do best in a home with another confident dog to help him continue on figuring out how to dog. He is submissive and an utter sweetheart. Any application with another dog in the home will require a meet and greet. He is crate trained and potty trained.

This is what happens when you take it slow and put in the work. Clyde has been with me for a little bit now and he is now fully integrated into my home with my other three dogs, including Buddy! ♥️♥️

Due to this dude's nervous energy, I am saying no little ones. Clyde has been residing with a 9 and 15 Yr. Old.

I hope everyone is having a great day thus far. We still have several dogs with us in our Norwell facility.

Doggie lovers, where areee youuuuu!!!! 😁

These guys all need fosters or adopters to come north for pick up 7/27! 💙

Connor, Brian and John are Lab mixed, and about 4 months old.

1. Connor is the sweetest. He loves to drink from a water hose, splash and jump in the pool, takes his head and dunks it in water splashing himself with his paws. He loves attention and to be petted and constantly licks my hand. He’s definitely a kisser. He’s very playful. He enjoys playing with his brothers so he would be great with another dog.

2. Brian is the most timid of the 3 pups. He has eyebrows that sort of stand out so I can tell them apart. He doesn’t like water. He won’t go in the pool or get wet. He plays well with his brothers so he would probably be good with another dog or alone getting all the attention. He needs a little more coaching to do things sometimes.

3. John, the tan pup, is the one that seems to be in charge of the family. He initiates the horseplay with his brothers. He definitely loves to play. He’d be great with tossing balls or sticks. He enjoys water and the pool. He would also be great with another dog because he just loves to play.

4. Sophie- She is the momma of a litter who just came up- we never leave a mom behind! ♥️ She is 1.5 years old. Everyone who meets this girl tells you how sweet she is. She had FHO surgery to help with mobility in her hips and is now healed and ready to head north!!

Sophie is great with other dogs, kids and loves everyone she meets. She is potty trained, unsure if crate trained.

What is FHO?
An FHO, or femoral head ostectomy, is a surgical procedure that aims to restore pain-free mobility to a diseased or damaged hip by removing the head and neck of the femur (the long leg bone or thighbone).

Dog need a tubbie? 🐥
We cannot recommend The Soapy Spot in Rockland enough. Place is absolutely incredible and the owner is awesome!

From Nora’s foster mom:
Nora got another pampering session at The Soapy Spot in Rockland today. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

Today they had a pro groomer there, her name is Elyse. She trims nails at The Soapy Spot on Fridays and Saturdays from 10-12pm.

While Nora gave her the "you shall not pass" treatment, I saw Elyse work her magic on other pups and she definitely knows what she’s doing.

Little Annie was found on the side of road, two days after I picked up two of her siblings. She has a broken ulna and radius. All 3 have terrible rashes from fleas and who knows what else.

Riggins is a 2-Year-old, Heeler. She weighs in at about 50 lbs.

If you truly care about animals, please read and share.

I have rewritten this several times due to my internal conflict. I want this to be professional and to the point. I don’t want to go off on an emotional rant about the injustice of it all…

The picture below is of my first rodenticide case, with a fox. He was four months old and bled out internally before we could save him. Because pest control companies frequently accuse animal welfare organizations of exaggerating the effects of rodenticide on non target species, we shelled out over $400 for a necropsy and lab work to prove that this was indeed from poison. It turned out to be from three different types of rat poison. I would watch many other animals die horrible deaths, over the years, from rat poison.

I attended a zoom meeting with the pest control board of Massachusetts, this past Thursday. The pest control board is responsible for the regulation of pesticides and is supposed to follow up on any complaints and record any negative effects that a pesticide may pose.

Recently a coalition of Massachusetts residents petitioned the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources to immediately suspend the use of anticoagulant rodenticide use. MDAR put the pesticide board in charge of looking into this.

During the meeting, the board stated they have not been receiving many notifications or complaints regarding rodenticide incidents. They have been limited in their actions because no one has let them know. At the same time, no one from the public was permitted to speak at this meeting and comments were disabled…

Despite the fact that they do record the meetings, the recordings are not posted for public viewing…

Directly following the meeting, a letter was sent to all permitted wildlife rehabilitators in the state stating that the pesticide board wants us to know who they are and what they are responsible for. They also stated they want to know when there is an alleged rodenticide incident. This will help them to “accurately assess the prevalence of alleged rodenticide incidences in the state.”

I am not sure if they are aware of the eagles that we had perish who were in the news that were confirmed to have died from rodenticide poisoning or if they had access to the studies that Tufts Wildlife Clinic or the EPA released regarding rodenticide in Massachusetts.

But I am thankful they are interested in looking at these alleged issues.

I need you to speak up, please. If you have had a pet perish due to rodenticide poisoning or if you are a wildlife rehabilitator that witnessed animals die from secondary rodenticide exposure, you MUST let the pesticide board know. If they do not hear about it through their email or website, apparently they just don’t know about it at all…

All veterinary clinics, wildlife clinics and pet owners who have proof of this need to come forward. Please. I am begging you…

We will be sending along our tests and our proof. I’m begging you to send yours. I’ve seen far too many animals perish due to these poisons. It must stop.

Puddy is thriving! He is feeling right at home. He’s always getting compliments everywhere we go! Puddy loves his hikes and even came to a small family birthday party (and learned balloons aren't scary, despite what he first thought). He loves everyone he meets, doesn't bark at them, and greets them calmly. Puddy was happy to play in the grass and take a nap next to everyone. He loves his walks, couch snuggles and spends all this time hanging out with whoever is home. He’s our “big” shadow.

We have fully trained Puddy. He walks like an absolute champ on a leash. He is a GREAT dog.

📣Buddy got neutered today!

This ham bone needs a foster home or an adopter!!!

Buddy – This little dude is 6 months old. We think he is a Shar-Pei mix.

Buddy was rescued by Rockland Animal Control from a drug raid a few months back.
Buddy is a sweet boy. He is a big smoosh face with a lot of heart. This boy loves to play, enjoys car rides and go for long walks. Buddy is potty trained and crate trained. He loves crunchy cookies. Buddy also knows basic obedience and is VERY smart.

He is not approved for cats and dogs are based off meet and greets.

Pet adoptions from shelters and rescues in Massachusetts urgently need your support, especially those that did not receive the grant for fee-waived adoptions. These organizations tirelessly work to provide a safe haven for countless animals, offering them a second chance at life. Without the grant, adoption fees may be a barrier for some potential pet owners, leaving these loving animals without homes. Your support can make a significant difference in ensuring that these animals find the forever families they deserve.
Moreover, adoption fees are crucial for furthering the work and mission of these organizations, including Buddy and Friends. These fees help cover some, but not all, of the cost of medical care, food, shelter, and other essential services, which allows shelters and rescues to continue their compassionate work. While this grant provided temporary relief, only 8 out of over 200 shelters were fortunate enough to benefit from it. When the grant is gone, the mission of all shelters and rescues continue, and they cannot survive without charging adoption fees. Although these fees do not cover the entire cost of caring for the animals, they help to offset some of the expenses. By choosing to adopt from these shelters and rescues that do still have to charge an adoption fee, you not only save a life but also help alleviate the burden on these vital community resources, ensuring they can keep their doors open to more animals in need. Please consider adopting, donating, or volunteering—every bit of help counts. ♥️

Although both were very uncomfortable, they both crushed their visits.

Both of these boys are on aggressive antibiotics and strong cough medication. We are going to monitor them in the coming days and hope that they do not end up with pneumonia. Simba smeared his snot on us which was great. 😂

We are so extremely grateful to have Pembroke Animal Hospital in our corner.

What you see below with Nick is absolutely extraordinary. Although he was scared at first, he chose to engage with a stranger without negative behavior. ♥️

What we did find with Nick is that he has some tears in his knee. 😵‍💫 This will be a further conversation to see if at what point a TPLO will need to be done. 😟

Simba and Nick are currently on their way for emergency Vet visits. Neither one of them have been feeling well and are coughing up an insane amount of mucus.

We know that our vet will take especially good care of them and we will provide all of you with an update after their appointment at 12:30.

Sharing a personal post.
It’s our CEOs gotcha day!!
7 years ago today, we got Buddy. ♥️
My soul dog, my everything. I would move heaven and earth for this dog.
When we went to go look at him, he was in a cage way too small and you could not even see his eyes. To this day, he’s a walking vet bill. The rescue was an absolute craphole.
They were not honest about his likes or dislikes. They told us he was 2, our vet said more like 5 so this year Buddy AKA Bubba is 12.
This is the dog behind my rescue. He loves everyone. The BEST temperament tester with other dogs.
I will be a devastated train wreck, ready to light the world on fire the day that this dog leaves me. I love him every moment I have. 💙

Thank you to all of you who rescue, support rescue, those who put the work in when things get tough, and overall love your dogs. There’s no better love. ♥️

Enzo!!🐾🐾

He has become a staff favorite at our Norwell facility. 💚💚

DOB 6/29/23, From the Essary litter from 9/2023. He is a Boxer/Pit Mix.

Enzo has been busy building confidence and is crushing his training with Novus Canine. He is now very excited to see new people. You walk by and he wants to say hello. He is still sometimes nervous but looks to his human for reassurance. Although small for some, these are huge strides for this dude. He went on a pack walk with Dally and they loved each other. ♥️

We would really love to get him out of our facility after his training is finished. Enzo is crate trained but is getting frustrated in the crate, and we understand. He is the first one to greet us in the morning!

His ideal home is with children over the age of 12 and he is approved for other dogs with a meet and greet.

It's hard to get a good picture of Butch because he's always happily prancing around or playing with his foster sister. He loves everyone he meets, especially kids who are on his level 😍 He holds his own with our Staffie mix and has his own little sass. We hate that he has that docked tail, but he never stops wagging it.

Butch is the ultimate happy-go-lucky puppy!

Kit Kat!! ♥️

Breed: Belgin//Husky//Black Mouth Cur?!?!
We don’t know yet but doggie DNA test has been donated!! Can’t wait to see their results!!

KitKat:
The very smallest of the litter, but that doesn’t stop her. She is rough, tough and tumble through and through. None of her bigger littermates can hold her down for long! She loves to be held and give you kisses wherever she can. The extra food is helping her gain weight and grow, though I don’t think she’ll be as big as her siblings.
