We always try hard to feature the best photo possible, but today on National Black Bear Day we just didn't have any bear visits to report in the animal hospital...
So instead, we decided puppy Bert deserves his own special holiday today. And honestly… “National Black Bert Day” has a pretty nice ring to it!

Rocco recently stopped by for his Senior Wellness Appointment.
We’re always happy to see our patients coming in for wellness visits because these appointments allow us to be proactive and preventative rather than reactive. Early detection and routine monitoring can make such an important difference in your pet’s health and quality of life as they age.
On our website, we put together helpful information regarding Senior Dog Care and the importance of Wellness Visits. Visit the link below to learn more:

It is National Dinosaur Day, and we would have loved to feature a real dinosaur today, but our options were limited...
Perfect timing, though, for this snapping turtle (and another one!) crossing Dr. Hebert’s lawn this past weekend, most likely heading back toward the cranberry bog after laying eggs.
Looking at the tail of this turtle, it certainly reminded us of a Dinosaur!
If you’ve ever wondered which animals are the direct descendants of dinosaurs, the top answer is actually birds! They are considered 'modern dinosaurs'. Beyond birds, the closest living relatives to dinosaurs are crocodiles and alligators, which are part of the Archosaur group. And then there is the group of 'evolutionary contemporaries'. These reptiles evolved alongside dinosaurs, but they are not taxonomically classified as dinosaurs. Any guesses? That’s right: turtles and tortoises!
So maybe featuring a snapping turtle for National Dinosaur Day isn’t that far-fetched after all.

Harold recently stopped by for a wellness visit ... almost as if he knew World Turtle Day was around the corner!
Did you know tortoises are considered some of the longest-living animals in the world? Certain species, like the Aldabra and Galápagos tortoises, can live well beyond 100 years. There is even evidence of turtles living much longer like Adwaita, a tortoise who lived at the Alipore Zoological Gardens in India. He was believed to be over 250 years old!
We would say a holiday dedicated to these incredible animals is more than deserved. Happy World Turtle Day!

Today, on National Rescue Dog Day, we are celebrating Bailey and Lucy, two rescue dogs with hearts full of love. Lucy is almost 12 years old and Bailey is 9. It is truly heartwarming to see them getting the second chance they deserve in a warm, loving home.

We recently had a very special visitor: Please meet Pluto, an Enchi ball python!
Are you wondering if pythons are dangerous? Ball pythons are non-venomous and are typically known for their calm, non-aggressive nature, which is one reason they are such a popular exotic pet.

One of the best national holidays is here today, and there was absolutely no way we could choose just one photo to celebrate it!

Obviously it’s NATIONAL CHIHUAHUA DAY!
We hope you enjoy this adorable little gallery of Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes (okay..., and one staff member) as we celebrate these tiny pups with their huge personalities today!
