Please come support our friend and longtime FBF volunteer Spencer Steere as she launches her book on the healing power of horses. Our student Abby MacCurtain and her mom Heidi will also share their book based on Abby’s journey. This event will be a fundraiser for FBF. We will present a video of the work we do at FBF and talk about the healing power of our horses. We are so grateful to Spencer and River Wind Farm for their support of FBF and are honored to be a part of celebrating Spencer’s inspirational book. Details are below! All are welcome to come join the fun!!

RIP JAX

All of us at FBF are heartbroken and shocked over the unexpected loss of our therapy pony Jax. Jax was the sweetest, kindest, most patient and dependable boy. He was our rock, our confidence builder, the one you could trust with any rider. He showed up everyday for his students and his instructors. Jax loved naps more than any horse I have ever known - he could and would nap anywhere anytime and you were welcome to join him! He never complained, did everything you asked of him and was just easy. He loved cookies, loved his turnout time with his friends and he really really loved Megan Colter and her son Colton. He helped Megan heal from the loss of her heart horse and the plan was for him to retire someday with Megan and Colton. We are so sad for what could have been for the three of them.
Thank you to Ashley Boutilier for giving us the privilege of owning her heart horse. We are forever grateful - please know he was given the best of care and so so much love. Jax did such important work helping kids who really needed him in so many ways.
Jax we miss you so much and are all a bit lost right now without you. Thank you sweet boy for all you gave us. Enjoy endless cookies and most importantly endless naps with no interruptions for camp or lessons! ❤️

RIP Hope 💔

We lost a major part of FBF this morning with the passing of our Queen, Hope. Hope came to us in 2020 through of the generosity of Leslie Kelley - who always steps up to help FBF and horses in deaperate need of help - and the tireless work of Kelley Pomeroy, who runs a rescue and intercepted Hope from boarding the slaughter truck to Mexico. Hope fit right in at FBF and quickly became a symbol of hope and love to so many of our students. She flourished with good care, love, respect and new found purpose to help people who were struggling either mentally or physically! She become a reliable friend to so many who needed a friend. She was truly our Queen and we all loved spoiling her after her assumed many hard years working for the Amish. She may have come not knowing what a treat was or a proper bath but left this world with 5 years of endless treats and the absolute best of everything in life. We pampered her and loved her daily and damn she deserved it.
Hope thank you for giving everything you had to all of us for the last 5 years. It was an absolute privilege to love you and care for you. I truly believe you changed all of us for the better. The inpact you have had will be felt for years to come.

Endless thank yous to Leslie Kelley and Kelley Pomeroy for saving her and trusting us with her.
Thank you to Megan Colter Jacquie Egan Jennifer Copponi Green and my entire FBF family for helping so much the past week in caring for Hope. Thank you to Linda Cimetti and everyone at South Shore Equine Clinic for caring for Hope the last 5 years and a special thank you to Dr Carlson who worked tirelessly this past week trying to save Hope. Your love for our horses is so evident in the work you all do and it is so appreciated.

Hope - run free my girl and I just know you are back with your bestie Strawberry dozing in the sun. We love you “Big Mama” and are so grateful for all you have done for us ❤️

Great time this past 2 weeks training 4 groups of firefighters from the Marshfield Fire Department! We talked about a specific emergency plan for my farm but more importantly talked about horses’ potential behavior in an emergency situation and practiced haltering, blindfolding and leading horses in case of a necessary evacuation. So impressed with the willingness, genuine curiosity and hard work of these firefighters and grateful to live in a community that takes the lives of our horses so seriously. Special thank you to Deputy Chief Corbo for being interested in this type of training and making arrangements for it to happen. Love Marshfield!
Two firefighters were so interested they came back once they were off duty to have a ride!

We have an amazing volunteer who creates a monthly scene for our resident gnome - who lives on the farm on our sensory trail. Our youngest riders (ages 2-4) can’t wait to see what adventures he is on each month! This month he is having a Hawaiian surfing adventure. Furnace Brook Farm would like to thank Levitate for donating some super cool stickers for his surf board. We are thankful for their support - love local small businesses supporting one another!! Levitate you are the best!!!❤️❤️

RIP Morgan Manor Case in Point April 16,1995-June 6, 2025

Aka Casey, Casey Brown (nickname thanks to his BFF Kristi Young) Downtown Casey Brown

An absolute pillar of FBF, Casey has been with us for almost 15 years. It is hard to imagine daily life without him. Casey has taught COUNTLESS students how to ride. The most solid, dependable lesson horse I have ever had, Casey was who you used to build confidence in your rider or just give yourself an easier lesson to teach. He was all business and showed up to every lesson and countless camp days to do his job. A total grump in his stall and when getting caught in turnout, he was the ultimate professional under saddle. I am so thankful we fully retired him last August after camp season and he had the time to just enjoy his days with his BFF Kiel and Fergus. I believe he gave me one last gift today when he spared me having to make the tough decision which I knew was coming soon. Thank you my Casey Brown for being the greatest coworker and giving so so much to all our students - you will be so missed. Thank you to everyone (especially Kristi - he was always your favorite 💔) for loving him. Thank you Linda Cimetti for all the guidance and care especially as he aged. ❤️

Run free special boy 💔❤️

Had the best day yesterday at the annual Furnace Brook Farm Horse Show/Celebration! Always a feel good day celebrating our amazing riders! The weather was perfect, the horses were true unicorns and our riders were amazing. THANK YOU to our incredible volunteers - none of it is possible without them. I am so grateful to be surrounded by such an amazing and selfless group of women (and my Dad!) who constantly show up to help make this all possible. It takes a crew! Thank you to each and every one of you. The horses continue to humble me with their love and generosity to our riders - they are truly the stars of the show.
I would like to send a huge thank you to Jennifer Knxzel and Hanson Grain (who also own Devine Feed and Pet) who donated items for our gift bags that each rider received. Please support them! We are so grateful to have such a supportive feed store and the help of Jennifer and Purina to have our therapy horses feeling their best!!
Also a special thank you to Smartpak for also sending our riders goodies for the gift bags. We are so grateful for their support!!

Thank you thank you to all who helped make this possible. Everyone at FBF is so grateful!!❤️❤️
