☀️🐾 National Heat Awareness Day 🐾☀️

As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that our pets feel the heat even more than we do. What feels like a warm day to us can quickly become dangerous for them.

Heat safety tips for your pets:
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water
🌳 Make sure they have access to shade or air conditioning
🚫 Never leave pets in a parked car—even for a minute
🐕 Limit walks to early morning or evening
🔥 Check pavement with your hand—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws

Watch for signs of heat stress like excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse. Heatstroke can happen fast and is a medical emergency.

If you’re ever unsure, give us a call—we’re here to help keep your pets safe all summer long! 🐶🐱

🍇 National Grape Day Reminder for Pet Parents! 🐾

While grapes may be a healthy snack for people, they can be extremely dangerous for pets — and even small amounts may cause serious kidney damage. Raisins (dried grapes) are even more concentrated and can be even more toxic.

🚫 Keep grapes, raisins, trail mix, baked goods, and other grape-containing snacks safely out of reach of curious pets.

Signs of grape or raisin toxicity may include:
🐶 Vomiting
🐶 Lethargy
🐶 Loss of appetite
🐶 Increased thirst or urination

If your pet eats grapes or raisins, contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital right away.

Safe treats only for our furry friends today! 💜

🐾Memorial Day 🐾

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. ❤️🤍💙

As you spend time with family, friends, and your pets this holiday, keep their safety in mind:

🌭 Keep table scraps (especially bones, fatty foods, and onions) out of reach
🔥 Be cautious around grills and open flames
🎆 Fireworks can be frightening—keep pets indoors and in a secure, quiet space
💧 Make sure they have plenty of fresh water and a cool place to rest

Holidays are best enjoyed when everyone—two-legged and four-legged—stays safe.

Wishing you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🐶🐱

🐢💚 World Turtle Day 💚🐢

Today we’re celebrating our slow-and-steady friends and raising awareness for the protection of turtles and tortoises around the world!

Turtles play an important role in keeping ecosystems healthy—from maintaining seagrass beds to balancing aquatic habitats—but many species are threatened by habitat loss, pollution, and human activity.

How you can help:
🌿 Keep waterways and beaches clean
🚫 Avoid plastic waste that can harm wildlife
🐢 Never take turtles from the wild
🚗 Watch for turtles crossing the road—especially this time of year

If you come across a turtle crossing the road, you can carefully help it in the direction it was heading—but always stay safe.

Let’s do our part to protect these amazing creatures for generations to come! 💚🐢

National American Red Cross Founder's Day marks the anniversary of the American Red Cross.

Like many women during the American Civil War, Clara Barton (1821-1912) rolled up her sleeves, bandaging, and nursing wounded soldiers. Following the war in 1869, she traveled to Europe and for several years volunteered her time working with the International Red Cross during the Franco-Prussian War. Upon returning to the United States, she was determined to bring the Red Cross to America.

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that provides assistance in the United States. It is the designated affiliate of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Headquartered in Washington D.C., the American Red Cross is governed by volunteers. In addition to domestic disaster relief, the American Red Cross also offers services in five other areas:
Community services to help the needy
Communications services and comfort for military members and their familiesThe collection, processing, and distribution of blood and blood products
Educational programs on preparedness, health, and safety
International relief and development programs
